“Anybody reading this, my mamaw was the barmaid there beginning in the 60s. Annie Ruth Ladd. They also lived above the bar for some time. My mother told me that she vividly remembers looking out the window and seeing the National guard going down Jefferson into Detroit. At that time, she was 9 years old. My mother grew up to work in the bar. Her name is Roseann or Rosie. I spent lots of my youth there, playing quarter machines. Rosie Also worked Square Deal. “Made Friday night reservations 2 weeks ahead for a table (you can sit at the bar too with reservations). Free parking literally right in front was a huge win for a busy evening. We were on time and waited just a few minutes, which actually worked out because the open kitchen smells and those flames totally pulled us in. Super warm, cozy vibe and the space looks just as good inside as it does from the outside. Once we sat down in the cozy chair/table setup, we kicked things off with drinks and ordered apps and mains all at once. Everything came out fast and hot. The mussels, beef tartare, and tuna tartare were all flavorful, and just really well done. The only letdown was the Pollo that looked great but really needed more seasoning (& onions lol) to match the rest of the menu. Service was friendly & fantastic. Overall, it was an awesome family night out and a spot we’d happily come back to. 5/5.“

“My cousin wed their beautiful bride last night and their original post wedding brunch location fell through at the last minute. Groups of us came through right as Supergeil opened. “Absolutely 100% recommend Nemo’s! We’re here for tigers opening day and I am breastpumping. I asked if they had a room I could pump, although they didn’t have a secluded area for me, they let me pump in this back area. “This is a small, but cool vibe old-time neighborhood bar. Came here with a group to see the Brother Crowe band who are an amazing and gritty, bluegrass-leaning Celtic Roots powerhouse band. You grab your own drinks from the friendly and efficient bartenders, the menu had some great choices and everything came out hot and delicious. The band rocked out and everyone there was really getting into their high energy music, singing along and dancing. I hope I get a chance to come back again!“

“Kamper's Rooftop Bar is one of the coolest places to grab a drink in downtown Detroit. Located on the 14th floor of the historic Book Tower, it offers amazing views of the city skyline, especially around sunset. The atmosphere feels stylish and upscale but still relaxed.

I stopped by for cocktails and really enjoyed the experience. The drinks were well-crafted, and the menu also has Spanish-inspired small plates that are great for sharing. The outdoor seating area is perfect if you want to enjoy the view and the city vibe.

“There's a thing about eastern market. It's alive during the day during market hours and then, it gets quiet. Pocket change was exactly what we were looking for to keep the vibes going! Just on the outskirts of downtown in eastern market. This little high end dive bar keeps dancing. Weekend DJ's and one of the only rooftop bars in the area. The incredible ambiance on the second floor feels like a hidden oasis of what seems to be the biggest spin and twirl of eastern market. I went with a few friends to celebrate a birthday to only feel like we were dancing the night away with the locals of the community. Great cocktails, incredible bar staff.. just ask for a spagett, and you'll feel like one of the locals!

They throw pop ups with surrounding vendors and if you need a late night snack the down stairs has some inedible tasty bites.“

“I frequently visit bar rotunda on weekends for the sole purpose of seeing the jazz band. The band is amazing, and having live jazz music inside that upscale classy bar keeps me coming back. The atmosphere is high class and candle lit, and I've yet to find another place like it. I don't know the name of the band, but I know the bassist is named Trevor Lamb, and watching him pluck the stand up bass on a Friday or Saturday night while sipping on a cocktail is a quintessential weekend tradition for me. I cannot emphasize enough this band's talent and contribution to the atmosphere.

Unfortunately this review may not be able to stay so positive. I've caught wind that management wants to cut the jazz band down to just two days a month and install a DJ instead. I know for a fact that if there isn't live acoustic jazz to fit the atmosphere of bar Rotunda, I will not be seen there again on a date night and I will have to drop the rating of this review.“

“Biergarten is one of our favorite local places! This year they saved my fiancé’s 30th birthday when another local bar could no longer accommodate us last minute. I called the day before in a panic and the owner called her workers to come in a little early, helped me coordinate everything with food, and just went above and beyond to make sure everything was great. Dance, entertainment etc. Everytime my out of town guest / sweetheart comes to visit Detroit she has to come there before she leaves its a must.“
