Been coming to this deli for years, love the food, huge portions, friendly staff, desserts are huge and tasty! Quality of the food has improved greatly! I appreciate the new owners showing the minute up charge on the receipt, giving the customer a choice. Previous owners just hid it in the bill! Staff is pleasant, and look like they’re having fun. Nice place to have a quick meal!
I frequently get the soup and salad combo. Bottomless soup with a very generous salad of choice. pita on the side. Lamplighter sandwich is excellent. Soups are homemade and tasty. Soup and salad combo is no longer bottomless. Fast friendly service.
Review based on takeout:I used to come here a lot for takeout. However, I stopped going since they got rid of the takeout trays.They wrap the Reuben sandwiches with wax paper which caused all our Reuben’s to be soggy once opened.This is not an issue when you eat in the restaurant, they make a great Reuben and other good food (especially onion rings) when eating on site however, not so good when ordering takeout.
Northside New York Deli is a typical diner with great and reasonable prices, known for its delicious Reuben sandwiches, onion rings, and freshly sliced deli meat. However, some changes have been noted recently, such as the absence of takeout trays and crinkle fries, which has resulted in soggy sandwiches and smaller portion sizes for takeout orders. The coleslaw has also changed to a strange yellow color and tastes different. Despite these issues, the restaurant remains clean, and the servers are cheerful and friendly. It is worth a stop for dine-in, but there have been some challenges with takeout and menu changes.
