“Coney Star absolutely earns five stars from me. This place nails exactly what a great coney spot should be—fast, flavorful, and consistently satisfying every time you walk in.
The vibe is classic Hamtramck: no fuss, just good food and a steady flow of regulars who clearly know what they’re here for. The chili dogs are solid, the fries come out hot and crisp, and everything tastes like it was made with real care even when the place is busy.
Big shoutout to Mishkat, who makes the experience even better. Friendly, attentive, and clearly takes pride in keeping things running smoothly—service like that makes a simple meal feel a lot more welcoming.

I ordered a kebab-style wrap with chicken, lettuce, tomato, and garlic sauce, and it was full of flavour and really satisfying. The portion size was generous too, I ended up taking some home and finishing it the next day.

“At a recent family birthday celebration, I needed appetizers at the last minute. I went to the right people for help! It was no problem for Kal and Ann! They cheerfully made fresh batches of delicious hummus (two varieties) which came with chips and pita bread. I served that, along with two kinds of their fabulous soup, to my dinner guests. Everyone complimented the delicious food Kal and Ann prepared. If you haven’t tried KAL’s Lunch Bowl, located in the Royal Oak Farmers Market yet, I recommend it. You won’t be a “just another customer” ~~ You’ll be a FRIEND!“

“Small, cramped space, that's the only reason I rated 3 for atmosphere, but I have Celiac disease and they took my disease very seriously, and even had an allergen safe blender. It was delicious, done on time (I ordered on the app for pickup), and I didn't get sick!“

“Dude. We went here last night…AMAZING. Food was great. Drinks were great. Music was A VIBE. I feel bad I don’t remember the server’s name who was outside on the patio, but genuinely some of the best service I’ve ever had, and I worked in the industry for 10+ years. He made great recommendations, was running his butt off, and just overall did a great job. You guys keep doing exactly what you’re doing. We’ll definitely be back!!“

“The service and food were amazing. The amount of food you get for the price feels like we’ve went back in time. You don’t feel like you’re being ripped off & the owner (I think he was the owner) graciously gave me more sauce since my husband forgot to ask for it on when he was ordering. Overall I would recommend 10/10!“

“I went to the Middle Eats on Eureka Rd in Southgate after the gym. My doctor put me a pretty restrictive diet due to my diabetes. I admit I was kind of apprehensive walking in because it’s been a real chore to stick to it when I have to eat out. I walked in and a young lady named Kayla R was at the counter. I apologized to her saying I need to ask questions about my order and I’m on dietary restrictions. She was incredibly nice and understanding. She asked me what I could and couldn’t eat and even made suggestions on how to make my meal that would comply to the restrictions. She even said she could make a phone call to find the exact ingredients of the sauce if I wanted her to. I was so impressed. In the end I got a bowl that complied to the dietary restrictions and it was very good. The other employees were also making suggestions and when I apologized for being a pain they all said they were happy to help. This wasn’t my first time there and it definitely won’t be my last. I can’t express my gratitude on how they all went totally out of their way to accommodate me. Thank you Kayla and staff!“
