Amazing pizza in the middle of nowhere. Was not expecting such great pizza! Loved it

Dirty and dank. I'm just glad I didn't get sick from the cafeteria pizza they serve at gourmet prices. Would not recommend at all.

Pizza was very good, cheese bread even better. I understand this is the "off" season in this small town but still did not expect no wait service. You order at the counter, when food is ready you go back to the counter and pick it up. When you are finished, you need to bus your table. The "dining" room was more like a storage room that was not clean, tables were wobbly and all flat surfaces were dusty. The owner could spend 30 minutes and do basic cleaning and I would have not done this review. Did I mention, the food was really good....

Got there right at closing. They took our order no problem. Pizza ready in less than 15 minutes. We will be regular customers when we are passing through! Pizza was perfect!

From the moment you walk in you know all they care about is making their job easier and not the customer happy. Bus your own tables, half the place looks like a storage unit, hasn't been dusted or cleaned in years, order at the counter and also come get it, can't add or take away toppings or do half pizzas, one size only, and I could go on. Terrible experience. We were the only ones there when we walked in, ordered, and watched 5 other groups come in and get their pizza before us, eat, and leave before we got ours. When asked where ours was they just kept saying it's almost done, but they also didn't know if it was in the oven. We had to ask 3 times to confirm and we weren't rude at all, we just wanted to make sure it was coming. Took well over an hour and they didn't even care or try to make it right. Finally our pizza ended up just sitting there getting cold without them noticing and they just said "oh sorry I forgot to buzz you." when we asked if it was ours. The place is a joke along with the bum at the till. The pizza was average at best. Why ppl go there and think it is great is beyond me. It's also way overpriced for what you get.

Even in the off-season there has to be enough demand for a better version of this restaurant. Pizza is fine, but really slow to come out and the service was desultory.

Wanted a specialty pizza but am allergic to tomatoes.... Man made change to white sauce for me without any problem or increase in price. And the pizza is fabulous!!!!!!!!!

The pizza was good, but in my mind I remember it being better. In their defense, we got our order to go so it wasn't piping hot by the time we ate it. It was really good, though. The prices seemed much higher, but I guess they're the victim of the current economy just like everyone else. Will we go back next time we're in GM? Of course, it's a North Shore tradition!!!

A staple in Grand Marais and on every vacation I've ever had there. It's still some of the best pizza I've ever had over the years. My parents took me here as a kid, and now my kid is going with me. Can't wait to go back up the shore and grab a slice or two or a whole pie.

It’s been 17 years since my previous visit. Based on reviews, I was unsure of what to expect.I called ahead to verify hours. The individual who answered was kind and knowledgeable. The gentleman who took my order was very friendly and kind. The restaurant was clean and well tended. And the pizza and garlic cheese bread were absolutely delicious. I ordered the 14 inch thick crust Uff Da Zah.Thank you for a great experience and day adventure.Parking: Lots of street parking (although it’s off-season).Wheelchair accessibility: Easy in and out. No inclines.

Thank you Sven and Ole's! You guys have been a staple of every Grand Marais visit since I was little. Understaffed you may be, but the quality of service, and the pizza and general atmosphere are as great as always! It was wonderful to see seating opened again, and to be able to share with our kiddo the same experience and flavors I enjoyed growing up. Keep up the excellent work folks! You are all greatly appreciated!

I had heard many good things about this restaurant from years past, however when I visited this fall, I was utterly disappointed. The pizza was decent, even if the crust tastes like bread. It is really hard to make pizza bad, and thankfully it was serviceable. The atmosphere was depressing: the only lighting was through the front windows (no lights on), customers were advised by a sign that due to staffing issues, they were to bus their own tables. When we looked for a place to sit, every table was in need of being wiped down. The back part of the dining area was shrouded in shadow and blocked from view by a partition, while a dozen uhaul boxes loomed above the corner booth.I would definitely recommend one of the other many interesting looking eating establishments in the area before this one.
