“Their thai boat for me wasn't good they tasted like package noodles. What was great and probably the best in MN to me is their raw larb. They use real pepper, not dry pepper, not chili flakes, real authentic cayenne pepper. 1 out of 5 places I've been to will use real pepper and not just that, they put mint leaves and lemon grass also. A lot of places just throw in cilantro and green onion, maybe red onion TOO. Their lao papaya is good, full of flavor and spice if you ask for it. I would say 4.5/5 overall as my main interest was their thai boat which wasn't for me. Service was great too.“

“This is the best Thai food around! I’ve never been disappointed in the food, and the service is always amazing. Super fast pick up times for take out, and a beautiful patio for summer. This is my ultimate favorite St. Paul restaurant. Don’t miss out on this gem. Menu highlights for me are Pad Krapao, Laab Isaan, curry fried rice and Pad Woon Sen! 😋“

“Myself and my fiancé are from Northern Minnesota and were there in July of last year. There were a couple of minor issues with our visit that day, but the food was delightful. Our server suggested that the manager may want to speak with me in regard to our experience, given the nature of the issues that occurred, so I left my business card and honestly forgot about it, as it wasn't that big of a deal to me. Some time later I received a letter at my office from the manager (I found out later that she's actually the owner.) She sent me a check to refund the cost of our meal, along with a very nice note of explanation and apology. The refund was way above and beyond what was necessary or expected. She took full responsibility for the issues that we had experienced at her establishment that day in July. She also asked for another opportunity to serve us the next time that we were in the area. This was a very classy (but unexpected) response to what I would consider to be something that wasn't that big of a deal to me, but it clearly was to her. Given the high standards that she clearly demonstrated for her establishment, there was no doubt that I would honor her request for a second opportunity. This last Saturday we were finally in town again and were able to visit the Basil Café for a second time. We had an absolutely delightful experience in every regard! After our meal, I asked the pleasant young lady that was checking on us if the manager happened to be in on a Saturday. Well, that turned out to be her! Her name is Tiffany, and she is the owner of the Basil Café. I introduced myself to her and she not only remembered the letter that she had sent and the small issues that occurred on our previous visit, but she also remembered my full name from memory!!! We had a very nice conversation and she sent us home with some extra spring rolls that we enjoyed at home later that evening. Tiffany, I also run a business, and the way that you treated us and handled that situation is an impressive lesson in customer service and leadership. You didn't just recover us as customers, you created 2 raving fans of your business through your actions and demeanor along with your wonderful cuisine. You easily could have brushed off the initial experience that we had last year. And, while we weren't upset about it, we likely wouldn't have thought to ever return to your establishment if you had. Instead, you held yourself and your wonderful restaurant to a higher standard, and you made 2 raving fans that will return again and again and will recommend your establishment at every opportunity. Tiffany, thank you for a wonderful dining experience and thank you for a refreshing attitude and demonstration of personal responsibility that you so impressively gave. That level of service and attention to detail is rare in our world today. BTW, the Drunken Noodles are delicious and so are the Spring rolls. We will see you again soon. - Jake & E.“

“Great food. Great intimate and quiet atmosphere. Great location. Service was great, greeted upon arrival, patient when answering some questions. Very responsive as I texted prior to actually visiting the location to make sure I went to right location. Ordered the shrimp fried rice with 1/2 teaspoon of spice and it was fiya! Right amount of heat, flavor filled and shrimp cooked with the right texture. I ordered the imitation crab wontons, the presentation of these was beautiful. The imitation crab can be a hit or miss for people who like it. Sometimes the warm imitation crab is not as great as the cold imitation crab. I will be brave next time and try the fish meatball wontons. I inquired about the fish and it redfish Bree. Never heard of it so was scared but maybe next time. Definitely will return. Great food. Great service and great atmosphere. ♥️They are really feasible. Appetizer, specialty drink (lemonade with fixings) and entree was about $35 with tip.“

“Haven’t been here in a long time and picked it up last nite. Highly recommend! All dishes we got were fresh and delicious! My daughter has celiac and sam said anything on the menu can be gluten free, she loved the chicken and broccoli and he even packaged it separately to ensure it was safe for her. Highly recommend!“

“UPDATED to say that this place is such a hidden gem and I need more people to know about it. This recent time, I had the Yangon beef curry and it was perfection. The stuffed tofu was great and the tea leaf salad was just as delightful as it was the previous time. I really like that they can omit the fish sauce in the tea leaf salad and stuffed tofu. Consistency matters and this place has it.

Really enjoyed the tea leaf salad. Highly recommend! I wanted to try the boat noodles but they said they were out of it. We were there an hour after they opened on a Saturday and there were only 3 other parties there. I guess they don't have it consistently. The yellow curry was pretty good. I also enjoyed the pad thai. I like that they can make some things vegetarian/vegan. I'd come back.“

“Got the salmon pumpkin curry. Spicy, but not so much that my low spice tolerance couldn't handle it in small doses diluted with rice. The flavor was excellent and the portions so large I have enough left for 1-2 more meals depending upon how hungry I am.
The restaurant itself is fairly large for where it is and has a great ambience to it. There was hardly anyone there while I was eating but the waiter stopped by multiple times to check that everything was ok and and the staff were all very nice.“

“Do not sleep on this place, its is some of the best thai food in the twincities, complicated dishes that are very authentic to thailand. Food comes out hot and in huges portions. The spice level is pretty high so if your don't like alot of heat order mild, it will still be spicy.“

“I like eating some of the foods in their menu. Some foods tastes good. However, I wouldn't go there for pho, but I would go there for cooked dishes that's served on plates, because those taste better than the pho's. They have good customer service over there when I went.“

“Our food was cooked while we waited, about 4 minutes. The pad thai was the best we have ever had. The egg rolls were excellent. The carrot pieces were a bit crunchy and we found out they were better than over cooked ones from other restaurants.“

“The husband took our 4 year old and 7 year old to eat dinner there today without me. He ordered 1 kiddie bowl of pho and a 2nd kiddie bowl of broth and meatballs only. They charged him for 2 adult phos (16.00 each= 30 total) ontop of the regular entres he ordered (75.46 total). We've been dining there almost once a week for the past few months spending close to 100 each time. Very disappointed and show no value to loyal customers. Never returning.“

“I am not in the area to visit this business but if you are or passing through Minnesota stop in. Tell them Josh sent you! They are kind and caring about their community and gave free meals to the Homeless. So please give them a visit. *I heard the food is a #10 too! Thanks Kong’s Kitchen!“

“Delicious food! I went for lunch with a group of 3. I got the spicy fish, which was lightly breaded in a delicious sauce and I loved it. The others got pad Thai (the best version I’ve tried) and Tom Kah Gai (which I wanted to bathe in). I would love to go back again.“

“the whole experience of hot pot was great! parking was a bit hard and I wish the plates were smaller to fit all foods on the table. I love the sauces, one is spicy/ savory and one is acidic/sweet. great amount of meat! the owner suggest the tricolor so it was good as well. would definitely come back!“

“This place's foods taste very good!!! I love their boat noodles, Saikrok (may not be on the menu, so u have to tell them u want it), and their other foods! This place may be small, but don't let it doubt u, because this place has the best boat noodle in town compared to other restaurants I've been to. I love it. I am a returning customer always! 🥰♥️“

“It has been years since my wife and I have dined in at DC2. The hype after its first opening seems to have died down. Usually when asked about DC2's food, folks seem to have mixed reviews. So because we were around in the area yesterday, we decided to give it a try to see what has changed. The menu seems about the same, with a few less items. The biggest change is the prices, which definitely is dollars more than it use to. Understanding with economy/inflation, pricing up is eventually going to happen. But is it worth really spending about $5-$10 on dishes where you can go a few blocks over to Hmong Village for cheaper? We ordered the combination pad thai (big noodles), papaya salad (Thai med spicy), and hli xiab (fried pork with tamarind sauce). I was always a big fan of the pad thai sauce from DC2, which seems to be the same as I remember it. However, the noodles are a bit thicker, like chow fun noodles. It was soft, feels homemade, and paired very well with the sauce & meats. The papaya salad was not overly sauced, and tasted very fresh. It had just the right amount of spiciness, sweetness, and sourness for both my wife and I. The hli xiab was a dish we have not tried before, and did very much enjoy. You pick a choice of meat which is stir fried with a sweet tamarind sauce accompanied with bell peppers and onions. There is an option to add spiciness, which we did do. We chose pork which was first fried, then cooked with the sauce and veggies. If you love sweet like in orange chicken, then this is the dish for you!The service was great, much better then I remember it. We were seated immediately, and the waiter was attentive. They also have a call system button now which you can click to ask for something or add things too.Overall, I was very impressed with DC2 and will come again. To go back on my question, I would rather spend few more dollars here then go to Hmong Village.“
