Northbound Smokehouse & Brewpub

I have eaten here several times in the past and had good experiences. Today we got take out and I was very disappointed. I ordered the brisket philly and unfortunately need to sub gluten free bread. 1. The menu says creamy cheddar sauce (its beer cheese) so it’s not gluten free. If the menu said beer cheese I would have chose something else. 2. They replaced the hoagie bun with gf bread. Fine but it wasn’t buttered or toasted and one piece was the butt of the bread. All of that is just awful. Please toast the gf bread. It’s the least you can do for a sad gluten free person, I wish i could eat a freaking hoagie bun.
3. The meat and toppings are piled on that hoagie bun. The amount that was on my sad gf bread barely covered the bread. Give me something here!

My wife and I went here in the late summer and ate outdoors. Very popular place. Even though we went at 5 pm to avoid crowds, the place was busy. I worried about parking but managed to find a spot about a block away -- parking is not easy. But the food and atmosophere is what we came for and we were not dissappointed. The fish fly was excellent and, even though we were stuffed, we took home some leftovers. I can see why people like this place. If one could walk there it would be a regular haunt.

I stopped in for a quick lunch with my daughter and we loved the place! I’m not sure how or why we haven’t been here yet, but we’ll be back soon now that we know better!

The atmosphere is nice, with plenty of space, plus a patio. Our server was great and the food we ordered was delicious - especially the chili! We plan to get back on the weekend to order the brisket. On top of it all, the beer was great. Do yourself a favor and make your way to Northbound soon!

Wow. Highly impressed by this place. I found out about it through its participation in the Minneapolis tree watering program and I'm so glad I did. Excellent beer and really, really creative menu. Good was delicious and high quality. Even my kids' mac & cheese was home made and very good. I had the smoked trout salad (with wild rice, bacon, smoked egg, etc.) and my wife had a special Korean pork sandwich. Both were superb. Will be back.

Amazing wings! The Alabama white sauce was primo. Unbelievable service! The bartender was crazy busy, running the entire restaurant alone but maintained his composure and crushed it. Didn’t see him stand still for a second. (10/20 @12pm)

The ribs looked and tasted awful. We got extremely burnt, dried up ribs that weren't even fitted for a dog's meal. The service was great and that is the only reason we gave a good tip. I wish we would have sent them back but we had plans after our meal and we're on a bit of a tight time table. Don't serve food you wouldn't serve your own family.

They have their own homemade beer and their own smoked meat and cheeses. There's a wide variety of local craft beers also. It's a comfortable place to hang out with friendly, pleasant staff. Afternoons are not very crowded so that's a good time to go if you're in the area.

This is a Guy Fieri Diners, Drive-ins, Dives restaurant. He actually came here two different times. He and I both had the 18 Hour Porketta. Delicious, and so was their beer. Put this restaurant and Pub on your must do list. Enjoy…

Smoker trout bowl was quality. Patio is nice. Bike parking infront.

Love spending quality time with my daughter having dinner at Northbound. Love the way the neighborhood engages with the place.
