We stopped in by accident on a Friday night. The food is incredible. The cook really understands herbs and spices and is making everything from scratch. Not being familiar with Ethiopian food, we randomly ordered samosas, lamb tips, beets and lentils. Each dish was a mouthful of delight. The beets were my favorite and my friend who does not like beets loved this. Not at all convenient to my house, I will gladly drive for this food and sweet little restaurant.
delicious sambusas! best coffee!
We came as a group of 12, ordering a variety of dishes. Besides the very friendly staff, the food was wonderfully presented, and, despite some never having tried Ethiopian fare before, it was all very good. For those not daring to eat using the interactive strip, they will provide our customary utensils...but we recommend the interactive which they make there.

Blue Nile Ethiopian Restaurant and Bar is a very nice looking restaurant with nice decor and a calm, inviting energy. The atmosphere is amazing, and the service is friendly and welcoming. The food is wonderful, with amazing flavors and textures. The veggie combo for 2 and beef tibs are excellent, and the kitfo and veggie plate are made just right. The coffee is excellent, hot, and strong. The restaurant also sells spices. Portions are generous, with plenty of leftovers. The owners are gracious, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. While the service can be 50/50, the restaurant is a true gem for authentic Ethiopian cuisine. It is likely the best Ethiopian meals in the Twin Cities. The prices are fair, and there is ample parking. Guests know they will be back again and again. Note: The Google site currently says temporary closed, but the restaurant is open.
