We were staying at the hotel and decided to have supper at Axel's. We first had some drinks at the bar- Josh & Logan were fantastic! We then headed back to room to refresh before coming back down for supper.
We arrived shortly before 6pm and were immediately seated at our table. My husband and I each ordered the French onion soup to start and our entrees. It took about 15 minutes to get the soup and complimentary pop-overs; which was fine. They were fairly busy. Soup was great,...read full review
Went for their Friday Fish Fry and was not disappointed. From the popover's, soup and entre was great. Huge, wonderful shrimp, cod very nice as the was the walleye. Definitely on our do again list.

Axel's Restaurant offers a pleasant dining experience with excellent service and a variety of delectable dishes. Highlights include the smoked salmon, roast meats, and mouthwatering desserts. The popovers and steaks are particularly praised, while the breads may need improvement. The restaurant provides a quiet atmosphere, allowing for enjoyable conversation with friends and family. Guests have enjoyed meals like filet mignon, seafood soup, baked potato, and green beans, often praising the popovers and maple butter as an unusual treat. The Friday Fish Fry is popular, with large, wonderful shrimp, cod, and walleye receiving high marks.
The restaurant is spacious, striking a nice balance of elegant and casual for dining and mingling. While the food is generally good, there have been some concerns about service, including slow food delivery and missing items. Some guests have suggested updates to online menus, as discrepancies were noted. The staff remains friendly and accommodating, ensuring a pleasant experience for all, including guests with special needs. There is a recommendation for a breakfast brunch option on weekends to enhance the dining experience further.
