The first thing I ask when I walk in the door, “Is Johnny here?”

The food is good but the main reason I come here is because of Johnny. He’s a great guy and provides amazing service. He adds the personal touch.

I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Johnny for at least six years and hope to see him for many, many more.

“Best matcha in the city! I have tried quite a few places in the Twin Cities and Cafe Yoto takes the cake for best matcha. You can tell the matcha is good quality and the atmosphere of the cafe/restaurant is lovely. “We had a wonderful dinner at this lovely Japanese restaurant in the Tangletown area of Minneapolis. First, they have a great cocktail list. I had the wasabi whisper, which was their riff on a martini - Japanese gin, vermouth, yuzu bitters, served with a wedge of black garlic. This is a great cocktail. We also tried a completely crazy cocktail made with vodka, gin, sake, a type of Japanese soda, and matcha. It was super interesting, and actually quite good. They also have a great selection of sakes, and wine.

We started with the shrimp tempura. The batter was crispy, and the shrimp were perfectly cooked.

We took the recommended path of getting 4 hand rolls, which come with miso soup, a small salad, and edamame. I particularly liked the unagi roll and the scallop roll. Everything was fresh and tasty.

They have a small selection of desserts. We opted for what was sort of a waffle filled with sweet red bean paste and shaped like a fish. How awesome is that! It is served with a scoop of excellent vanilla ice cream. It was perfect.

The staff is attentive and knowledgeable. The place has the usual quiet feel of Japanese restaurants. The menu is somewhat limited, but what they do, they do very well indeed. I definitely will go back!! Soon!!“

“Busy Saturday, but the place had no line, so I decided to check it out. The servers were friendly and were even willing to let me try the food. Honestly tasted just as good or even better than Panda, which had a long line. Food was well seasoned and flavorful, and the portion size was great! “As a Japanese person who is born and raised in Japan, this restaurant is the most authentic Japanese restaurant in Minnesota. Since I started to live in Minnesota, I had struggled to find good Japanese restaurants that satisfy my tongue. However, this restaurant really changed my life in Minnesota. The food, service, atmosphere, everything is amazing and perfect here. The price is really affordable for broke international students like me. Location is also very good.

It was here quickly, the sashimi was of exceptional quality (very fresh, fatty, melt in your mouth - I eat a lot of raw fish and am pretty picky about freshness) and the roll was delicious and beautiful. Also love that they're open relatively late. Will order again!“

“I’m not a fan of restaurant who only accept online order as I prefer interaction with waiters to get more info on the foods. I tried their ramen & overall it’s ok. The broth is good, noodle quality not bad, toppings are minimum. It’s enough to get a little comfort food while waiting for the flight“
