If you want to take a quiet & quaint day trip out to the western suburbs of Minneapolis to the tiny town of St Bonifacius Minnesota for pizza, make SURE you make ‘Grumpys On Main’ your destination.Stopped by Saturday March 2nd 2023 about 2:30 pm after a day of shopping nearby. We knew what we wanted, but it’d been a while since we’d been in.The moment you pull up you realize you’re taking a step back in time as this bar/restaurant has many of its original features for your eyes to behold. Creaking floors and doors and a long wooden bar with window cut-outs showing the other non-barstool side of the place greet you on arrival. There is an outdoor fenced-in seating area with tables. Numerous large flatscreen TVs adorn the walls, each tuned to a different sports event. No need for dressy garb here. Regulars and old-timers at the bar will stretch their necks and stare to see ‘who walked in’ and soon as they find they don’t know you, they turn back to their tap beer & buddy conversations. Good selection of beer on tap and bottled beer, and spirits as well.We ordered a large pizza and a couple beers. Pepperoni, ham and green pepper. Nichole was our bartender and Alicia was our pizza server. They were both prompt and courteous.THE PIZZA IS DOWNRIGHT AMAZING. There’s so much fresh cheese melted on it that you’ll need napkins immediately. It is not greasy at all. Crust was medium thin and perfectly baked. Everything tasted fresh and ingredients were flavorful, the pizza’s red sauce was robust and no too tangy, just right. Once you take your first bite you’re hooked for good.Supplied at the non-assuming bar tables are grated Parmesan and red pepper flakes in restaurant glass shaker bottles, salt & pepper, plastic forks and small paper plates. There is no server on duty so you’ll need to communicate directly with the bartender for all orders. It was easy to speak to her between the window cutouts from our table. Other tables away from the cutouts will require you to walk to the bar for your orders.As with most things good, there was a wait time while our pizza was made, then cooked. It took about 15 minutes to receive our piping hot gooey cheesy pizza.We dug in immediately, and you know that OMG feeling you get when you taste something amazing? …well this was it.Two very cold beers rounded out the meal. It couldn’t have been any more the perfect American dive bar pizza experience.Highly recommended !Best Pizza Ever”

“After living in St. Boni for five years, I finally stopped in. Subway is generally not my first choice for sandwiches, but my kids wanted it. It wasn't busy, and there was only one employee working. He was really friendly and did a great job making our sandwiches. He even made me aware of a promotion that made one of them free. He had an accent that I thought was from India or Pakistan. I just want to recognize him as a great employee and the main reason this review is five starsParking: Parking lot is small and not directly off street.”

“I love this place! The ambiance is so great, I love the sun shining thru the windows as I order a monthly themed drink while the friendly staff ask how my week has been. There are often fresh flowers on the tables and in the window boxes! The coffee is SO good!! Its hard to pick a favorite drink...Honey Bee latte is always a good to, as is Paradise Meadow and Hidden Lake.”

“Excellent! I went there just as they opened at 8 on a Sunday morning. Despite being early, there were still four other people in line which told me it must be good. It didn't disappoint, the coffee was delicious! I did not try their pastries, but they all looked good so I'll have to next time. Highly recommend! Polite staff, cozy environment.”

“This place is awesome stumbled upon it today. Great sandwiches I had a Ruben and fries the Ruben was the best I've had in awhile and the fries are seasoned just right on top of the food there is a whole deli/ meat market. Tons of different wiskeys some that are hard to find at other liquor stores and a good wine selection as well great place to check out”

“I stopped by this bakery and coffee spot. I asked what they suggested I try and let me tell you they did not disappoint when I took a sip of Lavander vanilla latte. I would of probably never picked that myself but I'm so glad they suggested thank you!”

“We were there on a Sunday night in early March 2024. Pretty quiet, just what we wanted for our anniversary. New York strip was one of the best steaks I've had along with the garlic mashed potatoes.My wife had the broiled walleye and was very pleased with it.Our server, Lydia, was awesome, took very good care of us!”

“Great brewery set up right on Lake Minnetonka. They have a good selection of IPA and 8 other beers of varying style. The taproom is cozy and situated quasi-restaurant style. Staff was prompt and friendly on my visit. There was also a Voyageur Sauna onsite during my visit. Matt the Sauana Steward was simply amazing. Knowledgeable about temperature therapy, and beer, snd engaging. I for sure want to check them out in the spring/summer to watch the boats pull up. And also want to come and watch a Vikings game on their outdoor screen on the patio.”

“I would love to give Iron Tap all 5 stars but they have not had a proper entrance to the restaurant for years now? So with this issue they have you sitting close to the door and cold air is constantly flooding in and giving a chill in their dinning area. When I go out to eat I expect to be able to take off my winter coat to enjoy my food/experience. The quicker they resolve this issue it would be amazing.”

“I go to this nutrition shop every morning. The shakes and teas are delicious and have helped reduce my craving for sugar. I have lost 7 pounds in the first 10 days. Highly recommend for a healthy treat for yourself. The owner and her employee are both so incredibly nice and very accommodating.”

“After so often hearing from friends about Surfside, & perusing their menu online, we finally gave Surfside a shot. What a wonderful experience. It was 5ish & the place was packed with Families & Baby Boomers, now we know why, the prices were more than fair, & the menu was extensive, so much so that choosing was an adventure. The Waitress was helpful & playful, which was great for unstressing us because our car broke upon entering the parking lot, & we were a little stressed...I , as a Vegetarian, chose the Beet Salad, & my Boo chose a Half Order of Ribs which came with Fries, a small loaf of Cornbread, & Coleslaw. If that's a half order, which was huge, I can't imagine how big the full order must be. The Ribs are made in a smoker out back, & my Boo said they're the best he's ever had & even comparing to Ribs he's had in both the West & South that are renowned for their Ribs. Here the best part: The Owner of Surfside likes to go table to table talking to his Patrons, insuring a positive experience is had by all. We had a conversation about how our Car broke entering the lot. Long story short, he overheard us calling an Uber, & offered us a ride home! We accepted a ride home from a friendly Proprietor who gives Customer Service a whole new spin. Needless to say, we have a new favorite Eatery”

“Stopped in to check this place out while meeting up with a friend. Located in a small town. Parking can be found on nearby streets. Walking in you noticed there's giant chalk signs of the menu. They have a large number of various offerings. From drinks to food. Along with some merch from local artists. The place had a home like vibe to it. There are two levels of the coffee house. Downstairs is where the main action is to order and hang out. Upstairs has more chairs and tables to sit as well view art as well. I had the Monkey tail mocha which was banana and dark chocolate and a southwest chicken with chipotle mayo panini. Both was goods”

“The two girls working were so sweet. I don’t remember their names but I messed up the order and they remade it for me immediately. i felt so bad, but they were so sweet! I usually don’t come here and they were super helpful.”

“We decided to take advantage of the 70* day in October (thanks global warming?) and headed over to Waconia Brewing. I had been to Waconia before, but never to the brewery.We got a great flight with some choices recommended by the friendly Beertender including their Vanilla cream ale, their Chocolate PB Porter, their seasonal 2xIPA and an apple ale. All were great with my favorite being the PB Porter.We enjoyed the sun on the patio that is part of their parking lot. But for anyone going while it is still nice out, there is a TON of bees. They're working to mitigate some of that with bee traps; but there still were a ton. So if you're not a fan perhaps enjoying their spacious inside is better!We are planning to come back again soon. “Service is excellent & food is amazing! The place needs some work--there are holes in the floor covered with rugs & they have space heaters set up in the dining room, which is also partially unpainted. I'm assuming these are ongoing projects & the place will keep getting better. We'll be back!”

“We had a delicious meal - a salad with apples, chicken, bacon etc. Chicken was nicely cooked. Salad was beautifully plated and the ingredients were very well balanced. My husband had a steak sandwich and fries from the specials menus, which he said was also great. We "shared" a coffee creme brulee for dessert which was amazing.”

“First time actually sitting down here and having something from their small hot breakfast menu and it was SO good. We ordered the Biscuits and Gravy and a Bacon, Egg & Cheese sandwich, coffee, and a few treats to go. The service from the super friendly staff was great, and the food was top notch. The Biscuits and Gravy were some of the best I can remember. This is a nice, comfy place to grab a coffee and a pastry but don't sleep on the hot menu. Highly recommend.”

“We have been eating here for 40 years. It's a quaint, little place just down the road from us and 1/2 block from the Luce Line Trail. All kinds of yummy burgers to choose from!Parking: Plenty of parking!”

“I happened across this place while riding my motorcycle in Carver with my girlfriend. There were some nice bikes outside so I stopped in.My GF and I tried the Rueben Balls and Walleye Fingers. Both were fried to perfection and came out quick. The service was good even though the bartender had a lot of people to look after. The prices are very reasonable.Important note: I discovered you cannot tip with a credit card here and felt bad that I didn’t have any cash. Remember to bring cash. The bartender does a good job and works hard!”

“We came as a group of 5 for dinner (work outing). I had 3 of their cocktails which were good. The steak bites were very good, I don't even like steak. Cheese curds weren't my favorite, they had seasoning in the batter and the dipping sauce had a kick. I had the fish sandwich and a side of Mac and cheese. The fish sandwich is huge. It was pretty similar to other cod sandwiches, just large. The Mac and cheese was good. I would likely go back to try the Mac and cheese pizza. Parking is never easy in that area.”

“We were invited as part of a group. First time there. What a great place! Live music, several families with kids (not obnoxious at all), interesting selection of beers. I had Peppermint Nacht, very tasty! We split a giant pretzel with dipping cheese/mustard/caramel between 5 of us. We will be back ☺️ You should join us!”
