I’ve taken my girlfriend here multiple times and every single visit has been consistently amazing. The service is always fast, friendly, and on point. The staff moves like they’re running a well-oiled sushi machine but still make you feel welcome and taken care of. Last night we were on a waitlist for 45 minutes, and honestly? That just proves how good this place is. You don’t wait almost an hour for mediocre food. When a restaurant is that packed, that consistently, it tells you everything you need to know. People want it. And once you sit down, you understand why. The food is absolutely delicious. Fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented every time. Whether it’s classic rolls or specialty creations, everything tastes like it was made with care. It’s one of those spots where you finish eating and immediately start talking about what you’re ordering next time. I genuinely hope nothing changes because they’ve nailed it. Great food. Great service. Great atmosphere. It’s a perfect date night spot and one of the best sushi experiences in the area. The only downside, and this has nothing to do with Sushi Ai itself, is walking through the cloud from the pizza place next door where people tend to hang out. That part can be… aromatic. “Love that I can get Korean and Sushi in one location. Sushi was fresh and delicious. We had the pork katsu which came with miso soup and salad. Also ordered some squid salad, seaweed salad and gyoza. The spicy squid dinner had just enough heat not overly spicy. They dont have Korean BBQ that you can cook at the table. But there are plenty of food options. It was nice surprise to get the complimentary pineapple and the end of the meal, super refreshing. Will come back again!“

“Wonderful food. Elegantly presented sashimi, sushi, takoyaki, gyoza, udon, don buri (bowls of food), and other Japanese options. Many many types of sushi rolls. In total, there is not only more than standard Japanese fare, but it is also delicious, high quality, and beautifully presented. Many different sakes, mixed drinks, and Japanese beers along with international Gin, bourbon, tequila, rum options. They even have Japanese soda pop. Friendly and helpful staff. Lovely decor with exquisite hand painted scenes. I had been there once before and couldn’t wait to go back for seconds to show my adult son who also, this day enjoyed his food immensely.“

“I went from being a first-time customer to a regular very quickly—I’ve been dining here almost weekly since discovering it. Machi has one of the best sushi bars I’ve found in the St. Louis area.
The sushi and sashimi are consistently fresh, sweet, and flavorful, and the presentation is beautiful. The arrangement changes depending on how many pieces you order, and the plates often look like little works of art. Sushi and sashimi are the main reasons I keep coming back, but the tempura and delicate appetizers are excellent too.
The noodles are the one thing that don’t quite suit my personal taste—the broth is a little too mild for me and I prefer firmer noodles—but that is a small point compared with how much I enjoy everything else.
A special mention goes to my waiter, Andy. He is genuinely one of the best servers I’ve encountered: passionate, funny, attentive, and always willing to go above and beyond to elevate the dining experience.
They also have a good selection of cocktails, beer, and sake. For an all-you-can-eat sushi and sashimi restaurant, the overall quality is exceptional. One of the best I’ve experienced in the U.S. Thank you for consistently doing such a great job. Highly recommend.“
