“I visited for the first time this past Saturday for an author event. I accidentally showed up early and was super embarrassed, but the staff was super friendly! They encouraged me to stay and hang out until event time and offered to get me a drink despite not technically being open. The latte was amazingly delicious, so I decided to take a lunch to go after the event. I'm a sucker for a good grilled cheese and tomato soup. The grilled cheese was made with 2 different kinds of cheese on a panini press! It was delicious! I'm giving this place 5 stars across the board. I will definitely be back and will be bringing friends! <3“

“Went to Barbacoa, 5500 Troost, for brunch Sunday morning, what a delightful experience. I ordered Monie’s plate. It was mouthwatering. The serving was so generous, that I took half of it home. The corn tortillas were soft and warm enough to make a taco, the beans were flavorful and not spicy, the carnitas were fall apart tender and very tasty, perfectly fried potatoes, and fluffy scrambled eggs. The salsa was very tasty and not overly spicy. The coffee was even tasty (Costco Kirkland medium roast). Unlike some breakfast restaurants, the background music was so low and mellow (helps with digestion), I could hear my friends talk. We have to go back during the week for dinner. UPDATE - I forgot one very important thing, the service was excellent. Our group was one of two in the restaurant, but shortly afterwards other start to arrive. There was only one friendly waitress, who, despite the growing crowd, was able to get back to us about more coffee and to check on us“

Bartender was too busy to ask about it after we got the itemized receipt. Overall, delicious. Just wish we would have gotten the full special.“

“Last night's experience at The Capital Grille was sheer perfection, as is numerous visits there have been. Of course, the server makes the difference and Corey was beyond outstanding. His personable service is one-of-a-kind, giving me plenty of time with the menu and very willing to answer any questions I had about the menu selections and discussed them at length with me, excellent attention to detail. I have dined with him many times, each visit a 10+. I had the 22oz. bone-in ribeye for the first time and was very good, enjoyed the selection very much. The Capital Grille's shrimp cocktail is the best in Kansas City. 5 XXL shrimp with beautiful color and luxurious presented to the guest, excellent price point, $22. This appetizer has always been a strength of theirs through the decades. I had a huge treat last night in the Managing Partner, Kim Halloran, visiting with me at my table. These are not everyday opportunities and I made the most of her visit. She is a true leader and Kansas City is very fortunate to have her leading the city's Kansas City location. It is always a privilege to have a conversation with her.“
