“I've been there many times for 5 years. I loved it and probably always will. The food is super good, comparable to Johnny Ray's, Strate's and AJ's. They have my favorite drive-in combo; Burger, Fried Pickles and Tea. Highly recommend it.“

“This restaurant is a family owned business and it's hands down amazing comfort food. The atmosphere is very much family oriented. The wait staff is very nice and seemed to be on it even with the amount of people they were handling. This place gets packed fast. We always go when we are traveling through to visit family. The chicken fried steak and okra is my favorite dinner and the fried mushrooms for the starter. I highly recomend this place.“

“Nice small town bar and grill on the banks of an Ozark lake. Woodsy decor, a nice "party room" where we spent most of the day. The food was a cut above your average "bar food". They appeared to have a modest selection of beers, and some hard liquors. I don't drink, didn't pay attention to that. Table shuffleboard appears to be a popular pastime here. The theme from cheers comes to mind in this place. A bit of a smoky atmosphere/smell, pretty common for this type of place, something to be alert to if one is sensitive to such things“

“The Classic Grill: A Blast from the Past in MissouriMy wife Kimberly and I were visiting family in Sedalia and Cole Camp. We have had our fill of the same old fast food chains and generic restaurants. We needed something different. Something real.We wanted a place like Cole Camp itself. A place where people still knew each other by name. A place where life was simple and slow. There was a restaurant that stood out from all the others. It was covered with blue lights that gave it a retro vibe. It looked like a place that had a story to tell.We decided to give it a try.We were immediately greeted by a friendly waitress who led us to a table. She handed each of us a menu and asked what we wanted to drink. We placed our order and looked at the menu.It was full of home-town food, the kind that your mom or grandma used to make. Here’s a list of some of those items:• Pork tenderloin sandwich• Meatloaf• Onion rings• Fried fish• And much, much moreEverything was made from scratch and cooked to order. The portions were generous and the prices were unbelievably reasonable.I asked the waitress what she recommended. She said that the pork tenderloin sandwich was their specialty, and that it arrived almost as big as the plate on which it sat. She said that it came with hand cut fries and coleslaw, and that it was simply the best sandwich that we’d ever eat.I was hungry and adventurous, and so I decided that I’d give it a go.She smiled and took my order.A few minutes later, she brought me my sandwich. It was huge. The pork was tender and juicy, coated with a crispy batter. The bun was soft and buttery. The fries were hot and crispy. The coleslaw was creamy and crunchy. It looked amazing.I took a bite and felt a surge of flavor. It was delicious. It tasted like home, but better. It tasted like comfort, but not boring. It tasted like nostalgia, but not old-fashioned.It was one of the best sandwiches I’d ever had.I ate until I was stuffed. I couldn’t finish it all, but I gave it my best shot. The waitress came back and asked me how I liked it. I told her that it was fantastic and thanked her for the suggestion. She said that she was glad that I enjoyed it, and that she hoped that we would come back again someday. She went on to tell me that the Classic Grill had been around for many years, and that it was a locally owned family business. She said that they used local ingredients and recipes that had been passed down from family member to family member. She said that they were proud of their food and their history, and that they wanted to share it with everyone who came to their diner. They had many loyal customers who came from near and far, and that they always welcomed new ones. Classic Grill was more than just a diner; it was a community.I asked for the bill and paid for my food. She gave me a receipt and wished me a good day.I got up from my table and walked out of the diner. I felt happy and satisfied. I had found something different in Cole Camp after all.Something real.If you’re ever anywhere near Cole Camp Missouri, do yourself a favor and stop by the Classic Grill. You’ll be glad you did.“
