“Went to Barbacoa, 5500 Troost, for brunch Sunday morning, what a delightful experience. I ordered Monie’s plate. It was mouthwatering. The serving was so generous, that I took half of it home. The corn tortillas were soft and warm enough to make a taco, the beans were flavorful and not spicy, the carnitas were fall apart tender and very tasty, perfectly fried potatoes, and fluffy scrambled eggs. The salsa was very tasty and not overly spicy. The coffee was even tasty (Costco Kirkland medium roast). Unlike some breakfast restaurants, the background music was so low and mellow (helps with digestion), I could hear my friends talk. We have to go back during the week for dinner. UPDATE - I forgot one very important thing, the service was excellent. Our group was one of two in the restaurant, but shortly afterwards other start to arrive. There was only one friendly waitress, who, despite the growing crowd, was able to get back to us about more coffee and to check on us“

“Great local bar in the heart of Englewood. Love their Moscato. Owner Mary Ellen is a super person and always makes you feel welcomed. Support small business. You won’t be disappointed.“
“Step right up to The Fridge, where the beer flows like confetti and the décor whispers sweet absurdities from a carnival you can’t quite place. Welcome to the beer bar where the taps are cold, tasty, and genuinely inventive - I had their pineapple beer which tasted like a day of frolicking in the sand on the beach of Hawaii. The karaoke was blissfully off-key as the bar turned into a sing-along sanctuary, and strangers become drinking buddies by round two.“

“Was really good! Some of the best cocktails I've ever had. Came in during Sunday happy hour after 4 and was told all cocktails are $2 off, however got charged full price for one of hours. Bartender was too busy to ask about it after we got the itemized receipt. Overall, delicious. Just wish we would have gotten the full special.“
“Absolutely one of the best SOCCER ( futbol) venues in the country as they have hosted the EPL's supporters club of Newcastle United. Great TV's, great food, great drinks, great service and a loyal following. TOON ARMY !!!“

“I just want to say thank you to this staff! While playing the pop-shot game I lost my grandmothers ring. It fell off my hand while shooting. I gave my information to the staff in hopes they would find it at close. One of their staff stopped people from playing the game and got INTO THE MACHINE and opened it up to look and find my heirloomed ring in the middle of a busy Friday night. I cannot express how grateful I am for the staff for understanding the importance of that ring and for helping me find it.“
“Fantastic beers, staff and environment!“

“This brewery is a hidden gem in North Kansas City! The Big Rip Brewing Company has a fantastic selection of craft beers, and the staff are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. We love the atmosphere and the fact that we can bring our own food. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area!“

“I've lived in North Kansas City going on five years and I'm very pleased that my local bike shop happens to be such a great one! I've purchased two new bikes through Velo and had their help creatively rebuilding a third vintage bike. This boutique shop has helped me maintain, customize, and revitalize my small bicycle fleet, all while educating me on best practices and tips for home maintenance. They have a DIY repair station that has come in handy for me on a few occasions when I just needed to complete a small task, but did not own the tools necessary to do it myself. I really enjoy steel framed gravel bikes and they have a lot of knowledge about those specifically. The cycling club associated with Velo does a lot of gravel-centric cycling throughout the year.
In addition to the shop, the tap house next door hosts weekly group rides. Since joining the rides I have made so many new friends that, too, share a love of bicycles! Velo fosters a diverse community of cyclists, provides one-on-one assistance with new purchases, and repairs, serves up great beer and pizza, and are a bunch of all-around great folks!! I'm very grateful to have stumbled upon this place!! If you are in the area, or just passing through, I recommend popping in for a pint or a Thursday night group ride!“

“We stopped in to eat 15 minutes before the buffet was supposed to end. They let us do the buffet still and it was fully stocked! Even had fresh pizzas coming out. The quality was so great. I honestly think this is my new favorite pizza place. Plenty of sauce and toppings. Our waitress seemed like she was having a rough day, but overall our experience was excellent. Thank you!“
“Great Food, beer and service. A fun hangout bar after a long bike ride!“

“WOW, Just had Summit Pizza for the first time as we were searching somewhere close with Cauliflower Crust. Good Golly miss Molly, this pizza was excellent. With our favorite toppings available also. And in the counter were some delicious looking desserts. Maybe next time. Summit Pizza will be our go too!“

“I like to come on Wednesdays for Friendsday and this week I hauled ass to get there before 7:00. To my dismay Caleb was nowhere in sight and it sounds like he may have been 85'ed which is unfortunate because he's literally the only reason I rally on a school night. I love Brickhouse. The food, the staff, good drinks and prices but it looks like I'll go back to being responsible adult and only hang out on the weekends.“

“Update 6 years later. 2025. Still great food/atmosphere/and service. Got the same plate. Ribs are so damn good. Sausage great. Brisket is good, but o prefer thicker slices. Shaved brisket you lose a lot the juicy fat I look for it a brisket. This great for a sandwich but on a plate I prefer thicker slices. But still great flavor. Great smoke ring. Glad Joe's is still going great!!
Not sure why they dont advertise as Joe's BBQ. But either my first experience was a good experience. Ribs, brisket. And sausage. Bbq beans. Everything was great I like their sauces the traditional has that perfect balance of sweet and spice. Their spicy sauce hits ya a couple minutes later. Love that. But once again a perfect balance, nothing to overpowering. I'll be back. The restraunt has a great atmosphere good music. I'll be back next time I am in town.“

“We went out to celebrate — nothing fancy, just an excuse to raise a glass and eat something we didn’t cook ourselves.\n\nThe place has that classic KC steakhouse swagger: dark wood, country tunes humming low, and a bar lined with local taps. KC supporting KC — the way it should be.\n\nRachel was behind the bar, the kind of bartender every place wishes they had. Busy but unhurried, she gave us a genuine welcome — talked through the menu, pointed out the butcher counter, and made us feel right at home. A real pro with heart.\n\nDrinks landed fast. Mine leaned too hard on lemon, all tart and no balance. My partner’s was bold — a little heavy-handed but saved by a great hit of walnut bitters.\n\nWe went all in on the starters: wings, meatballs, and Korean riblets.\n\nThe meatballs were the star — juicy, herby, perfectly sauced, and unapologetically hearty. The wings had that crisp skin you dream of, though a little overdone inside; the blue cheese dressing was stellar and clearly made in-house. The riblets were tender and flavorful but more “fusion” than Korean — tasty, just mislabeled.\n\nRachel kept things fun and conversational throughout, the kind of service that makes you want to come back. When the bill came, the sendoff felt a little rushed, but that’s nitpicking — overall, she carried the bar with grace.\n\nWe left full, a little buzzed, and happy. The food wasn’t flawless, but the place has heart — and that’s what matters. KC hospitality through and through: dark wood, cold beer, good people, doing their best to make this city proud.“

“I ordered the Chuletta Plattter with thick cut pork chops it was so tender and juicy I ordered it the 2nd visit there! Only thing with this place is parking. There's not a lot of it, though you can park on all 4 sides of it if I recall correctly. There is space in a lot next door that offers many spots and has been closed when we have been there for dinner. So, don't let the parking availability stop you. They offer booth and tables for seating. Their wait staff are attentive & the food arrives really fast, which is impressive. Try it out, I am sure you'll be a repeat customer!“
