“Very neat dive bar and a very good Bloody Mary. Stopped in on a Sunday and the crowd was a mix. Felt like the place had a kind of people they prefer and we didn't necessarily fit in. I'd try again just to see if it was an off day but...“
“This is a true hole-in-the-wall local bar with lots of class and charm. It is a firefighter's bar and grill with all the gear and decor to go with it. Really cool place for drinks and food. The pork tenderloin is as huge as a plate, truly amazing. Definitely a place to visit when in the area.“
“First off the bartenders here are amazing. They are always attentive and great to chat with. For a casual bar they have some exceptional pizza. Also I am personally very happy with a bar that has Coors Banquet Beer as I am not that hard to please on the beer selection side of life.“
“We live in KCMO, about 15 minutes from here, but this is our favorite little bar. A bit divey, but it’s a very clean, well-kept spot. Not something you can typically expect of a dive bar. Sammy is a great bartender, very friendly and welcoming. Highly recommended whether you live in the neighborhood or take a drive to get here.“
“Welcome to Helen's JAD (Just Another Dive)! Known for their wings and late night kitchen, Helen's is one of the few late night spots in KC where you can get food at the end of a fun night on the town.FOODI had the All-American Burger ?. It was quite tasty and I definitely recommend it. My friend had the wings and said they were delicious as well. We didn't try the pizza but that will definitely be my pick if I end up back there.SERVICEOur food came out quickly and our server seemed cool/nice. They made sure to ask if we wanted another drink as soon as we polished off the last. No complaints there!ATMOSPHEREAppropriately named (Just Another Dive), the atmosphere at Helen's was that of a generic dive. The music wasn't for me tbh. It was mostly classic rock tunes i hadn't heard in years (and wouldn't have minded keeping it that way) mixed with modern country which just ain't my vibe, but also, it's Kansas City so what do you expect? This definitely isn't like one of the more artsy, hipster, service industry dives in Chez's, Hillsiders, or even Easy Inn but those dives are few and far between in KC anyway. There was lots of sports stuff and generic beer marketing posters everywhere which felt pretty bland. I will say the patio was really nice though and a good patio is always important.Overall, I'd swing by again for a late night slice of pizza and a quick drink at the end of the night. The food was delicious, drinks were alright, service was good, and people were nice enough, atmosphere wasn't for me really. I'd go back for the food, food service, and the patio!“
“Love this dive bar! Everyone is so nice and the food is great. Their poutine is my absolute favorite and the pizza is delicious too. The burger was good but basic compared to how good the rest of the food is. I love the atmosphere with interesting and funny pictures on the wall and graffiti in the bathroom. A great place to chill with friends.“
“How have I not been to @thehousewestwood it is just the cutest place. Yes now it dressed up for the holidays, but the space in general is great. Inside is small but comfortable and cozy. Then outside is perfect tables, fire pit, games (for warmer weather) AND the drinks are great.New Friday and Saturday place!“
“What a fun environment with friendly and prompt bartenders even though it was a busy night! They had a talented musician playing a wide variety so songs and he was engaging with the patrons. I am an out of Towner and felt very welcomed by the local crowd. There are fun decorations up for the Halloween season. A fun dive bar with a small town vibe in the city! My husband and I will definitely be visiting again.“
“My "adopted" dad has been coming here for years, and I bring him whenever I'm in town. This place reminds me of Cheers, because whenever we walk in, he is greeted by a number of people (staff and patrons) who know him, and they treat him like a celebrity. The food is great, and the service is excellent. The only improvement I would suggest is for more parking, but the only way to accomplish that would be to build up.“
“Suckin down cold ones at Johnnie's might be my new favorite activity. Great staff and a solid selection of beers made my experience great. If only my girlfriend didn't beat my a** in darts I would have had the BEST experience. Can't wait to go back (without her, HA).“
“What a cute little place. In all my years in KC I had never even heard about Chez Charlie until 2022! It's super cute in there and literally the definition of a hole in the wall. We stopped by on a weeknight and it was poppin'! The dart board is fun and old school, the drinks are cheap and there's plenty of seating in there to hang out and chill with a group of friends. I'll definitely be returning for some last minute drinks and bar games!“
“My husband and I popped in here before seeing a comedy show & T-Mobile Center not knowing anything about the place, and wow we loved it! The bartender Robin is so personable and good at what she does. The divey atmosphere had us feeling right at home. Not to mention, finding reasonably priced drinks downtown is practically unheard of! We ended up stopping back by after the show, and plan to come back any time we are in the area. Thank you Robin & Zoo Bar for a great experience!“

“Okay so hear me out, Kelly's may be divey and old school, but it's a good time, and worth five stars. So when I rolled in here about a month ago for a happy hour with the gals I hadn't been in probably a decade. My memories of Kelly's were clouded by early 20s nights out in Westport, and my impression of the place was that it was usually overly crowded, filled with bros, and a bit dirty. Essentially, the kind of place I feel like I would have found myself in during my college years. All of this being said, I have a friend that is a die hard Kelly's fan and I was genuinely excited to stop in, this time as a person in their mid 30s, and at a respectable time, to see what it's like on an average Thursday. You know what? It's damn delightful. First of all, the drinks are affordable, the bartenders are super nice and laid back, and while there were a good amount of folks in the bar, there was ample seating for our group. We never felt rushed, and it was nice to go to a bar that was unpretentious and just felt comfortable to hang out at. We stayed so long I ended up grabbing some pizza from Guys (that'll be the next review!) and honestly I just had a really nice, chill, evening catching up with friends. Is it the nicest, hippest, bar in town? No, but it's a KC institution for a reason, and I'm happy to be reintroduced it as an adult, and to find that an old friend like Kelly's still has a ton to offer even if you are no longer part of the 1am crowd.“
“Hello dive bar!! What a nice establishment. My wife and I went out for a birthday weekend and ended up here around 9pm. I walked in to giant "happy birthday" signs everywhere. As it would happen five other people were all celebrating brothers the same week as I was. They had a DJ who played very nice music that everyone was enjoying. This place is definitely visited by locals more then tourists but it was exactly what we were looking for at that moment. The drinks were cheap and the atmosphere was super friendly. This place is worth a visit if your local to the area or passing through.“
“I love this bar. I couldn’t feel anymore comfortable than I do here!!!! It is like our second home... I would ?% recommend this to anyone of any culture, background, genre or history. Everyone is welcomed and everyone is treated like family!!! Come down and meet the bartenders and give it a shot!!!! You won’t be disappointed!!!!!“
“I like Buzzard Beach. On Sunday's when there's no place else to go, it's open til 3am. Cool laid back atmosphere with a pretty nice crowd, unless they get crowded, then it's crazy but they do have an outdoor part to chill in. Plays different types of genre music, an the drinks are ok, altho they dnt serve much cognac which I like. Overall it's cool but bathrooms aren't well kept...“
“If you 're looking for a nice relatively quiet and tucked away in plain sight type of place to hold your birthday or memorial for ANYTHING you would like to celebrate with as many family and friends that you know would enjoy some good music, pool and maybe even win some money playing keno, THIS BAR IS FOR YOU!!! The patrons are friendly for the most part and the rules are simple, clean up after yourself and company, plan on having your Designated Driver on call, keep your hands to yourself (unless otherwise unavoidable) and SMOKE OUTSIDE OF THE ESTABLISHMENT!!I personally experienced a very personal vigil accidentally that turned out to be a very honorable and heartfelt ode in dedication to a fallen bar tender and her family and friends that you would have had to be present for in order to give justice to describe the atmosphere and momentous occasion that it deserves.... Not a dry eye in the house and it was testament to the fact that... ANYTHING BEAUTIFUL AND MOMENTOUS CAN HAPPEN RIGHT HERE....All that's missing is you!“
“Visited KC last year and this little pub seemed to be the only thing open and how thankful my friend I were. Nothing fancy, but definitely full of character and characters. The bartender was super chill and was fun to converse with throughout the experience. This is a wonderful hole in the wall pub that highly recommend. A true slice of Midwest Americana. Cheers and safe travels! :-)“
“You can even smoke in here! They have a badass pool tournament you can join if you dare. My husband and I were straight stuck on their arcade type bowling game!! The bartender was full of hilarious jokes, and so were the patrons. I really loved this place and plan to return!“
