Sauce on the Side Reviews
The food is phenomenal!!!!
The food is amazing, service was wonderful and the price was surprisingly nice. My group of 3 tried " Meat me in St Louis", "Duke" , "Fatty B", the spinach artichoke bites and the blueberry lemon dessert calzone. Everything was superb! Plenty of meat, delicious, creamy blends of cheese and coordinating dipping sauces. We weren't initially planning on stopping in but I am very glad we did. I'll definitely be going back if I'm in the area again.

Pictured below is the Gonzo calzone- Salami, dates, spinach, garlic herb cheese, mozzarella, mascarpone-ricotta blend, and garlic oil with garlic butter on the side.
My husband looked at me like I was crazy when I read off dates but the slight sweetness against all of that savory is what made it!!

Sauce on the Side is highly praised for its delicious calzones, including a vegan option and a build-your-own choice. Many visitors believe it offers the best calzones in St. Louis, often surpassing pizza. The restaurant has a few outdoor tables and provides exceptional service, with helpful and friendly staff who quickly bring food and drinks. The ricotta in the calzones is a highlight, and the staff is happy to suggest beer pairings. The calzones are creative with many topping options, and sauces like meat sauce and French onion sauce are especially good. The ingredients are high quality, fresh, and flavorful. One calzone is filling enough for a person, so coming hungry or taking some home is recommended. Drink options are limited, especially if Coke is preferred, but the tasty food makes up for it. Parking can be tricky, often requiring a short walk from nearby streets. The kitchen staff clearly knows their craft, though service can sometimes be less attentive. Dietary restrictions are accommodated with a gluten-free option. Many visitors find the meals fantastic, leaving satisfied and eager to return. The atmosphere is enhanced by nice music and a reasonable price, making it a great spot for calzones in St. Louis.
