I took some friends to El Charles Sunday May 5th. To me the food was "off" but since we were enjoying each others company I chose not to say anything. Our waiter, Gavin, seemed overwhelmed. However, he never blinked an eye at our requests. Im willing to eat there again in the future
Everything was great. Service waitress was annoying tho. Besides that it was terrific.
Salsa Verde dish was excellent! Will be back.

El Charro Cocina & Cantina is a gorgeous restaurant with an eastern Mexican flair, decorated with a Mexican theme and an Alamo theme, reminding diners of old Mexican buildings in California. The environment is loud and generally very crowded. The selection is typical, and drinks are expensive by the ounce, sometimes filled with too much ice. Service can be hit or miss; the waiter might take a long time, but the food is always good and outstanding. The guacamole is fresh and delicious, with pork rinds adding a great kick. Enchiladas are great, burritos are loved, and the tamales, flautas, and soft tacos have great flavor and are done right. The chicken fajitas, shrimp and steak fajitas, and chips and salsa are delicious. The strawberry/mango margarita is so good, and the churro sticks for dessert are amazing. Parking is a struggle at dinner time on weekends. The owner is easy to work with, and the restaurant is perfect for hosting parties. Overall, this is the place to be, making diners feel at home.
