The Growler of Oxford Pubs • $
265 N Lamar Blvd Suite Y, Oxford

“The Growler is the ideal spot in Oxford to hang out with a group of friends and grab some great beer on tap! I've been to The Growler quite a few times and have always had a great experience. I decided to swing in this week while back in town and it really held up. The staff working the bar are consistently awesome - they're personable, quick, and extremely helpful. The beer is always well poured. Their food is always great for the atmosphere. Some places tend to get lazy when serving bar food, but that is not the case for The Growler. There is so much seating available if you are planning to hang out with friends, and they have a few tvs and games available for use. It is somehow also a great spot for working - I have typed many, many papers here and have somehow never been too distracted despite this place often being filled with groups of people.“

“One of our go to places for real good comfort food. So far our favorite is the French dip sandwich. The bread is hot and soft with lots of roast beef and cheese. Their salads are very good too. Their burgers are also very good. We took an out of town relative who ordered the Ruben sandwich and he said it was the best one he'd ever eaten. And he was in his 70's.“

Rafters Music and Food Bar • $
1000 E Jackson Ave, Oxford

“Such a pleasant surprise. We went down to the Square for lunch on Thanksgiving thinking we would go to Boure', but the line outside was half a block long. City Grocery had no reservations until 6 p.m. We drove down Jackson Ave. from the Square and saw that Rafters was open, had never been there, so why not? They were severely short staffed and very apologetic about it, but we ordered a drink at the bar, grabbed a table, and settled in. Really appealing layout with a few tables outside, windows looking out onto Jackson Ave., excellent bartenders. Our drinks were very good and we got our food order in perhaps 30 minutes after being cautioned it might be almost an hour. My wife's cheeseburger was enormous and delicious, as was her side salad. My shrimp poboy and fries were excellent as well. Prices are reasonable. We really liked this place!“
