“⭐⭐⭐ I'm vegan + Medical Medium + gluten-free and mostly fat-free and corn-free.
My way of eating can be hard to maintain while traveling.
But at the Taquería El Mexicano was very helpful and made a special dish just for me with veggies and potatoes ? ?
The waitress was very help and made sure she was right about all my special need by asking in the kitchen ??
? It's important to order “sin manteca [animal fat often used for cooking vegetarian dishes] and sin queso [cheese]”.
?For drinks I had a watermelon juice from the menu. Remember to order without sugar [sin azúcar].
The dish was a mix of veggies fried on the pan (zucchini , free beans, carrots, onion and cabbage).
The dish was a little oily but I forgot to ask for it without oil only “sin manteca”
The potatoes turned out to be french fries - but I wasn't specific on that part when ordering, and of course I'll get french fries in a touristic area as Cozumel, since that's what most tourists want ??♀️
The dish had no spice added at all, so I added some habanero salsa, and it was fine.
I think I would have had better luck ordering a salad ?
The watermelon juice was huge and very delicious ?
⭐⭐⭐ I would love my vegan gluten free dish 3⭐ and 5⭐ for the watermelon juice.
My family was more satisfied with their meals and especially the huge drinks, so I'll give it 5⭐ for the drinks 4⭐overall.
We paid 850 $MX for 4 main courses and 5 drinks.

“Such a cool place. Great stop for great pastor in Cozumel. Easy parking. Very helpful people and my waitress spoke better English than my broken Spanish. I’m learning. I had taco pastor , and taco chorizo, and queso fonduta pastor. Not open on Tuesdays.
Wheelchair accessibility: There is a ramp leading into the restaurant“

“We've been here almost every day of our trip for tacos al pastor. All I've had is the pastor here but it's good. We had a torta but it doesn't have the pastor from the spit, but diced, seasoned meat. I was sad but i still love this place. Good prices, authentic local food.“

“Amazing local taco place on Cozumel. I think they cator primarily to the locals. It's a bit off the main touristy areas, but that was why we went there. The food was super delicious, and great value. Worth going out of the way a bit to eat there.“

“Hidden gem worth the trek. This is where locals eat authentic delicious Mexican food that’s reasonably priced. It’s cheap by US and Canadian standards. Huge portions, fresh and delicious. I got the steak plate tacos which was supposed to come with only 5 tacos but they gave me 8 taco tortillas and there was so much juicy steak that I still had left over.
The boy who served me was so kind and has an innocence that other places lack. I got a taco plater which like I said was more than 8 tacos, guacamole and chips, and a soda for 210 pesos. I tipped well because your money goes far here, better to give more to locals than expensive places by the beach and tourist area.“

“Excellent
Solution where you can eat well and pay little.
Now tired (at the end of the holiday) of strong flavours, we asked for very simple things and they satisfied us 100%.
We went two consecutive evenings; the first time
We ate chicken and the second fish (I attach photos).
Abundant, good and satisfying dishes.“

“The place where local eat and what they eat. Fast cheap delicious tacos. Mostly standing room only but it probably beats the wait at the larger chains in a hurry. Only a block off the main path so no to worry. Might see some badgers or other local wildlife fighting for scraps. Fun stop.“
“If you want the best tacos in Cozumel this is the place and the Al Pastor tacos are what you want to order. They cook the pork schwarma style on a spit and shave it off served with a slice of fresh pineapple. I stopped at 4 but I could have eaten them all day. It’s a little off the beaten path but just get a cab and they will know where it is.“

“My family of five rated El Pique near the top of our list for street tacos in Cozumel. The meat was properly cooked and very well seasoned. We preferred the tacos con queso and devoured a lot of them! The guacamole was good and well seasoned also. We sat at a larger table in the back room and had a very good time. The wait staff was busy but kind. I would definitely go back the next time we visit Cozumel.
Parking: We had to drive around a bit to find parking as the area is busy. We parked a few blocks away and walked no problem.“

“The tacos al pastor were very good, the waiter was very friendly. A short man who was upset because I didn't order everything in full ???. We ordered some tacos then we wanted more and we ordered again and he got angry. That man must not worry if we want more, rather he must worry if we do not ask for more.“

“Food 5/5 ?
Delicious and great taste and variety.
As someone who loves spicy ? food, my one complaint would be that the hot-sauces weren't as "picantes" (hot) as I would've liked that's something you can improve easily (I think)
Beverages 5/5 ?
Delicious, refreshing, not super sweet, made out of natural fruit
Service 5/5 ?
Very attentive crew, great service, patient and provide recommendations as requested. They are able to provide information in English and menus as well and the prices were pretty good when compared to other places I visited.
Atmosphere 4/5
The restroom area could use an improvement but that's the only "but" I could find.
Vegetarian options: Options available :)
Kid-friendliness: Ok for children's
Wheelchair accessibility: It's ok“

“The cakes are very tasty, and I like that there are casseroles with various moderately spicy sauces and for those who cannot eat spicy or do not like it there are 3 sauces without spicy.Very tasty mexican sandwich, and I like that there are cazuelitas with various moderate hot sauces and for those who can not eat spicy or do not like there are 3 sauces without spicy.“

“They sell good tacos, but I feel that they lack more variety in the sauces, in the accompaniments, and it would also be great if they included flour tortillas and not just corn, it looks like it's a new place, and it's growing, I wish them luck And “

“Excellent, they still keep the good seasoning for their tacos and tortas, I haven't been there for a long time and today I came back and I loved it again, and a very good price, without a doubt I recommend it 1000% And they also give you good treatment from the staff“
“Awesome no-frills taqueria specialized in fish tacos. They are tasty and loaded. Only around 30 pesos per taco. Every protein option is fried which I don’t mind.Nice Mexican music playing in the background and the lady making the tacos is friendly.“
“HOLY COW!!!!! The best dang tacos ever!!!! GO, GO, GO!!!!! If they tell you the sauce is spicy, please listen.“
“My husband won't stop talking about the fried tacos with chicken he ate. Not sure why they call them fried; the meat was sautéed with oil and finely minced peppers and onions. The tortilla was thin and the whole thing was delicious. Service was very good, as in all the places we went in Cozumel. Parking on the street is an option, although for lunch time it may be hard to get a space. There are parking lots on the side streets for a fee.“
“Great tacos. Wish we had a place like this at home. The taco sample plate is awesome and a great price. You also get to try flavors that I would have never ordered but ended up enjoying them more. The margaritas are not frozen but have tons of flavor... Sad to say it is now Closed...Went and now a different restaurant.“

“I haven't eaten there every time I go I ask to take the food but it looks very clean and the truth is that the carnitas are delicious I recommend it if you really like carnitas buy it every Sunday or Saturday to eat some tacos with a lot of onion in sauces that they prepare very rich.“

“Who would have thought you could get such amazing Lebanese food in Cozumel. Off the beaten path but worth the trip! Don't let the exterior fool you. This is fresh quality food. I had the Tabbouleh which was fresh and light. Sometimes food get "heavy" here and this was a great change. And an Arab taco (had to lol) love it was on pita bread. Not a big fan of corn tortillas so perfect for me. I also like it had cheese. I had never had Arab coffee before and was a little scared when it came in a tiny cup. Flash back to bitter espresso! So I add a little sugar and went for it.. was soooo smooth. None of the bitterness I prepared for. My friend had the Kebap which made me jealous! Next time. And of course have the coconut pudding! I have gone back just to get the pudding. The owner is a great guy who we enjoyed a conversation with. He has a little herb garden under the grape vine canopy. Let me try the oregano he puts in one of his salads. I thought I hated oregano. Not this variety! Just take the time and effort to go. You won't be sorry! We live here and after mentioning it every comment to my post was how great it was!“

“It is a restaurant with a beautiful façade, they decorate it very beautifully, I liked the tables, the view of the street is very good because the air flows.I thought the food was at a good price, not exaggerated for being a tourist area. The food tasted good, I ordered a burger with fries ? it was very delicious. And for breakfast it was a brisket cake for $55.00 pesos, it was affordable to me.The service was good, I feel like it didn't take long.A so to speak unfavorable point would be that they only have one bathroom and it is mixed ? and then the lines do get a little long. But I can say that it was a good experience.“

“Our family went to 5 different taco places while in Cozumel and we liked Guisado’s the best. While the tacos are different than typical “street tacos”, they are extremely delicious and well crafted. They use blue corn tortillas and the fillings are stewed meat and veggies placed on a small amount of rice inside the tortilla. The shop is very small and borders on too hot since the food is cooked right in front of the main entry. The guacamole had more tomatoes than I typically prefer, but was delicious as well. The staff is very kind and accommodating. We ended up going back a second time right before we flew out of town. Highly recommend this small gem just outside of the town plaza.“
