“Used this site's review in picking a lunch spot on a looooong drive. Service was fast, food really fresh. Was tempted by the kimchi burger but opted for the crispy fired onion one. Hubs had the bacon cheese burger. OMG good. Slaw was very fresh, zippy. Yum. Do yourself a favour and skip the fast food franchises right off exit 303 and drive the extra 3 minutes to the resto. Very fast to get back on highway.”

Service was spot on. I enjoy and appreciate restaurants whose service is as a team. We had a clear “lead” server, but everyone pitches in, delivering and clearing plates (including the chef), so we wanted for nothing. There was always someone available.

Despite the premium preparation and price tag, this place is unpretentious. The menu would be at home in any major city, but the service is friendly, familiar, and welcoming.

Neat techniques being used behind the bar. Decent selection of nonalcoholic options, with housemaid sodas, two mocktails, and a beer. Also good cocktail, wine and beer lists for those who partake.

Very very good food. Creative cooking without being gimmicky. Plates are suitable for sharing or eating on your own, though I would say that with the intensity of some flavors, I might lean towards sharing for this kind of menu. Plus, there were so many good dishes that a sharing style meal lets you enjoy more than just two or three items. We ate beef tostadas, scallion pancake, fried halloumi, roasted carrots with pesto, Balinese slaw, flank steak. All delicious. The halloumi and the slaw were standouts, but I would recommend every item.

Desserts (Basque cheesecake and peanut butter semifreddo) were equally delicious. It takes guts to serve this variation on cheesecake, with no crust/fruit/garnish/etc. Just a slice of milder, lighter, more delicate cheesecake standing on its own. It has nowhere to hide so it has to be delicious, and it was. Apparently, they often sell out and regulars will order it in advance.

Topped it all off with a French press coffee, which came with a little hourglass timer to ensure proper steeping time. Overkill? Sure, but a perfect reminder of how these folks must be paying attention to every little detail from start to finish. It certainly felt that way.

The food and drinks were top-notch: I treated myself to their indulgent loaded fries, kid #1 enjoyed classic chicken fingers, kid #2 savored a burger and fries, and my wife opted for the flavorful chicken burger. Not a single complaint—every bite was devoured with enthusiasm! Picaroons consistently delivers on ambiance and quality. The atmosphere is trendy, yet relaxed and the wait staff are all professional and really friendly. I have a gluten and dairy restricted diet and they are always willing to alter a recipe to accommodate me, as well as already offering gluten free options. The menu is varied and the desserts are so good. Well worth the money- every time. This restaurant never disappoints.”
