“From the outside I never would have expected the quality of the meal, service, and atmosphere I found when I stopped by and visited Roland's Beaufort, North Carolina location. First, even with it being an older building, it was clean with a capitol C. The staff at the counter were friendly and knew their products....It's been several years since I visited Rolands, and to be honest, I was afraid they had fallen victim as many of our local area restaurants had to the downturn in the market post Covid... Thankfully, and to my pleasant surprise, they are still going strong. I am a bit picky when it comes to my chicken. Most fast food restaurants, the chicken is greasy, and over breaded. Roland's was a very.... very.... happy surprise.The chicken had just the right amount of humidity, just the right amount of breading, and an amazingly low amount of grease... if any. I don't know how they did it... but that chicken was perfect. I ordered the sides of Italian Green Beans and their homemade mac and cheese..... Yep... you read right.... REAL Italian Green Beans with just the right amount of pork for flavor. the mac and cheese was good enough to serve in a five star restaurant and reminded me greatly of the way my grandmother used to make it.My brother and I visited the restaurant as a team. He ordered the BBQ plate with butter beans, corn and hushpuppies. You would have thought you were at a church pig picking. That pork was loaded with flavor, texture, and had enough chunks to tell you that somebody slow cooked it properly. He ate everything on the plate, as as picky as my brother is.... that tells you that the meal was mighty good.I uploaded photos of the interior and of the meal I ordered. I wanted you to see for yourself the quality of what I was served and the size of the portions. That's a ten inch plate!!!! It's been a long time since I've seen a plated loaded that full for the price I paid. Great tasting, and they didn't skimp on the portions.The interior reminds one of the diners of old. It's homelike, friendly, clean, and the seats are comfortable with plenty of room, and the tables don't wobble.How were the prices? Well, to be honest for the same price I usually pay at the corporate burger joint... I got a real meal, and a very enjoyable place to feast on it. I was served by a courteous, friendly and respectful young staff.I will definitely be going back... and I would recommend it to anyone visiting the Beaufort, North Carolina area. I think it's one of Beaufort's best kept secrets... and trust me.... it's one worth sharing. JM“

“Aside from being vinegar-based, the meat's texture was just okay. It felt it was a little on the 'sitting too long's side of things.The red sauce was watery and weird to me, but that's just me. Compared to the hundreds of sauces across the country, the red sauce rates low (by me and for me).Fries were nice and crispy.Location was clean. Staff was friendly and helpful.“

“Great hidden gem. The pork BBQ is great. The slaw is amazing. Reminds me of old school southern slaw. Mac and cheese was ok. A lot of regulars were ordering collared greens so I may have to try that next time. It is cash only and an ATM is located on premises. Not a lot of seating but a great take out option. They also offer family style options.Parking: Shared with a gas station so limited parking.Wheelchair accessibility: It is wheelchair accessible .“

“Food was great. Server looked confused when I asked was their slaw red (bbq) or white. Had to wait an extra 10 minutes, after we got our food, then I went and asked for the chili dog I ordered and hadn't got yet. But it was lunchtime. Look forward to coming back on our trips to here. We really enjoyed the food and our waitress, Ms. Channing, was really nice, courteous and extremely helpful when ordering. The atmosphere in the restaurant was very nice and we liked it.
