“This is an outstanding restaurant.The food is terrific. All made on premise... The chicken fried chicken was the best I've ever had. Big serving for a big guy like me. Not greasy but very tender and moist.The crispy crust was perfect.Wifey enjoyed trout. Said it was tasty.We ordered sourdough bread for an appetizer and it was also great!We ordered a couple adult beveragesAll of this was really affordable. Unusual for a vacation spot but I'm guessing a lot of locals go here soon they're not charging super high pricesThe staff were all so considerate and attentive.I give this place two giant thumbs up.Highlight of my stay in the area outside of the sheer beauty.It even snowed on us in late February.“
“Let me tell you something: if you want to throw down on some truly SATISFYING southern fare, Proper is the place to do just that! There is hardly a single thing on the menu I haven't licked my plate clean after eating, but I GOTTA give a special shout out to those fried green tomatoes with the pimento cheese AND that meatloaf. I don't know who is in that kitchen, but they are FREAKING it Thursday through Sunday! Thank god for this place.“
“Came here with a group of 4 for my birthday dinner and absolutely loved it! Cozy vibe, great food and excellent service. Highlights: Brussel sprouts, Caesar salad, filet and meatloaf. Server was on top of it the entire time. Very knowledgeable on the menu, gave recommendations, and was super attentive throughout the entire meal. Thanks for a great experience!!“
“Cracker barrel is one of our favorite restaurants. The food arrived to the table quickly and our waitress was attentive. The shop was clean and organized and cashiers quickly and efficiently checked customers out so we weren’t standing long.“
“My husband & I came for New Years. We loved the history, as well as the beauty of the Inn. The rooms were most spacious, and we rested so well each night. The complimentary breakfast was absolutely delicious, along with a friendly staff. The pianist & guitarist playing each evening in the hotel lobby gave a wonderful ambiance and nice entertainment after busy days in Blowing Rock. We will be back!“
