This is one of our favorite local restaurants. Farm to table food, so it's always fresh; delicious food, and excellent service!
We have been going to this restaurant since it opened years ago and it is still one of our favorites. The owners are such nice folks and always welcoming. The staff is always friendly.
We always enjoy New South and have been regulars for many years. Tonight we had meatloaf with tomato jam and mashed potatoes, beef short rib and succotash and a delish peach cobbler with vanilla ice cream. The menu is an elevated farm to table experience and every item on it is so good and beautifully planted. The salads are all excellent but my favorite is the simple mixed greens with citrus dressing topped with grilled chicken. It's yummy.

New South Kitchen & Bar offers a varied menu with many delicious options. The restaurant serves great drinks and has a selection of wine. The food is excellent, with dishes like fried green tomatoes and shrimp & grits being particularly noteworthy. Many customers have praised the shrimp & grits for being the tastiest ever, although there have been some concerns about the size of the bacon chunks and the shrimp being tough. The halibut special entrée was cooked to perfection and highly enjoyed, while the pork chop with cornbread stuffing and cherry glaze was also a hit. Desserts such as peach tart and lemon blackberry cheesecake are highly recommended, described as absolutely phenomenal.
The restaurant also features excellent deviled eggs and trout, though some items like pot roast and succotash are more about personal preference, with some finding the gravy too sweet and lacking a salty flavor. The Paloma cocktail is described as delicious and different, while the bartender can deliver a creamier espresso martini if requested. The blueberry dessert is another highlight.
Service is friendly and attentive, with servers like Nelie and Dori receiving praise for their excellent hospitality. Customers have noted Dori's kindness and patience, even when faced with difficult situations. New South Kitchen & Bar is considered a hidden gem, with staple dishes being reliably good and specials always offering a great surprise. When an old dish is missed, it is often replaced with something just as good or better. The restaurant is seen as a perfect spot for date night or a casual dinner, and it comes highly recommended for any occasion.
