“My wife and I just moved up from Tampa Bay, Florida nine months ago. We decided after decades living in crowded cities to move up and out to the country. While we love the area and the tranquility, the dining options are somewhat limited, short of driving north to Raleigh and beyond. One thing I truly missed was Thai food. I spent ten years teaching scuba diving and managing dive resorts, which landed me in Thailand back in the 90’s. In the two years I spent working in the resorts of Southern Thailand I fell in love with the incredible variety of dishes we typically never see in US Thai restaurants. When we finally discovered Mia Thai Bistro two weeks ago I was very happily surprised at both the quality of the food as well as the list it items like Khao Soi (Northern Thai Chiang Mai style soup) and Thai Boat Noodles (Kuay Teow Reua). The restaurant is located in White Oak Plaza on Timber Drive in Garner, in a corner unit with plenty of parking on either side. It’s also close to the theater in the plaza, making it a great movie and dinner option. The interior is an interesting mix of modern and tropical, with greenery wrapping light fixtures and cool lighting. The food is absolutely the star of the show. Although it’s not possible for most Thai restaurants to have access to all the ingredients found in Thailand, Mia Bistros dishes are pretty spot on, and absolutely delicious. So far we have been twice in two weeks and plan to be regular customers. On our first visit I had the Yum Neua Nam Tok (waterfall beef salad) which is my favorite among the Thai meat salads. The flavor was on point and the combination of sour, spicy, and slight sweetness mixed perfectly with the toasted rice powder. My wife, who is newer to Thai food opted for two appetizers, the curry puffs and an interesting non-Thai starter, Korean BBQ beef spring rolls. Both were delicious, with the curry puff featuring a delicate, melt in your mouth pastry. And the spring rolls a wonderful alternative to the standard Thai version. On our second visit last weekend I had the Boat Noodle Soup (Kuay Teow Reua). This was one of my favorite soups when I lived in Thailand and Mia Bistro’s version was perfect! Chock full of tender beef in a rich, flavorful broth. My son had Khao Soi, the Chiang Mai noodle soup with chicken in a rich broth flavored with curry. He really enjoyed it. My wife had Salmon Chu Chee which is a curry often served with duck of seafood. She absolutely loved it. We also tried the Laab Gai or chicken salad and the Som Tom or green papaya salad. Both were excellent. It’s rare a restaurant becomes an instant favorite, but Mia Thai has done just that. The service is friendly and attentive, the restaurant comfortable, and the food excellent. We will be back soon!“

“My five star rating goes to Israel (manager) and his team. The food and cleanliness is above board, keep it up and give that man more money. Before he started there the food was not that great, but he has brought it back to quality and taste.“

“Recently went here for my daughter's 13th birthday dinner. The whole family had a wonderful time, and the food was amazing! Portions are large, and we had plenty of leftovers that we enjoyed later. Service is wonderful, and we have never had a bad experience or dish coming here.“
