Jean's "By The Sea" Reviews
We just got back from the coast and were still wanting some seafood. This place was featured in nc eat and play on social media. We came as a family of 4 to check it out. Outside area was so family friendly and they had Highlights magazines for kids entertainment as well! Food was as good as what we had at the coast! Love that they offer oysters as well. We also got the key lime pie as dessert and savored it. We saved some to take home because it was delicious! We will be back!
Get The Whale
Love this place! The soup is always worth getting and the crudo is one of my favorite things on the planet.

Jean's "By The Sea" is a restaurant with clean and minimal yet stylish decor. The menu is pretty simple. The Calabash shrimp basket is $23, and the prices are definitely inflated. The shrimp was fresh and delicious, but there were only 8, along with a handful of fries, fresh and soft hush puppies, and salty coleslaw. The outside area is family friendly with Highlights magazines for kids entertainment. The food was as good as what one would have at the coast, and oysters and key lime pie are offered. The seafood is fresh and perfectly prepared, and the French fries were great too. The owner really knows wine, and the wine selection didn't disappoint. It's order-pickup-at-the window with friendly, pleasant staff and good service. The ambience is casual, with no need to dress up. The food is very tasty with surprisingly fast food wait time. The main downside is the location low on parking. It is a great addition to the Durham restaurant scene, and worth checking out.
