“This is a very clean restaurant. I didn't like what I got, it had no flavor or taste. Very bland. I added salt and pepper and was able to finish it. People were nice. I ordered chicken on a stick, pork fried rice and egg fo yon gravy sauce. Absolutely no taste or flavor. I didn't care for the red on the chicken.“

“I walked in on a Friday evening, 6ish. There were empty tables but the maitre d
asked if I had a reservation. I took a seat at the bar. The initial service was kind of slow but once I ordered my food was ready very quickly. I had the Hemingway Chicken, yellow rice and moros, paired with the grapefruit lager it was excellent ??. I will return to try something else on the menu.“

“The country styled steak taste like a frozen piece o eat doesn’t taste the least bit like country styled steak the gravy tasted horrible. The green bean on my husband’s plate tasted like the can that they came out off. The fried okra tasted like it had been sitting awhile and cold. The only hot thing on my plate was the fried squash. Tour food wasn’t worth what we paid for it. I did notice that a lot of people left a lot of food on there plates uneaten. Will not be going back.“

“I have eaten breakfast here many times when visiting the area but today was the first for a midday meal. I was not disappointed. The restaurant was packed but all were seated in a timely manner and our order was taken quickly. My sandwich was hot and the portions were very generous. Our server was cheerful and very attentive to our needs. I'm so happy to know that I have a place in Salisbury where I can enjoy breakfast and lunch.“

“On my birthday last night , we chose to celebrate by going out to dinner at another local restaurant. What made this restaurant stand out was that they cooked their food right in front of us. A kind man politely asked us to switch seats with him so our kids could have a better experience. We were a group of seven seated with a lovely local family of three. We enjoyed conversations about sports and other topics. At the end of the night, we were delighted to discover that our bill had been taken care of ($343.24). We were sitting with the owner of College Barbecue! We regularly visited Salisbury to watch my niece play basketball at Catawba College.We are new to the food selection in the area.I'm excited to eat at his restaurant on my NEXT visit to show my appreciation. “I had chopped pork tray w/tater salad and pasta salad. The waitress was wide up but she kept up good and our food came out quickly and hot. The place was full for Saturday lunch. Probably the best tater and pasta salad I've had. I even got to go orders of them both as I had BBQ left over. The BBQ was a huge portion, it was moist and chopped, not chopped or ground to a powder like other NC BBQ I've had. Reason for the 4 star on the food is though the BBQ was moist and there was a lot of it, it lacked a smokey flavor or any taste of having any rub or seasoning on it. I don't eat pepper vinegar(my analysis of NC BBQ sauce) so having a sweet sauce or some other sauce to choose from might be nice. I'm not knocking it, it was the most moist tender BBQ I've had with no sauce or seasoning. I will most definitely stop in again and bring my own sauce or rub to sprinkle on my plate.

The atmosphere was awesome. The walls are covered in NASCAR die cast and memorabilia. Took me back to a much simpler time and a time when I loved racing. Thanks for that! Thanks for a hot taste meal

“I grew up in Salisbury and lived there well into my adulthood. I live in Columbia, SC now but when I come back to town to visit my Mom, one of my favorite places to eat is at Checkered Flag. They’re food is really good but the hard working ladies who serve the customers is what makes it great. They take the time to talk to every customer at every table and it’s not just chit chat. They really want to know how you are and what they can do for you to make your visit perfect. They treat everyone like family but for those of us who come back again and again, we become family. Even for me, an out of towner, I even know two of the hard working ladies, Angela and Jen. Angela showed her hard working team spirit yesterday when, Jen, our server, was tied up with her other tables. Angela stepped in and took our order until Jen could get back over to us. This example of teamwork becomes contagious and I’m sure that Jen has done the same thing for Angela and all of her co-workers. Jen is such a joy to be around. Her personality oozes charisma and warmth and she makes you feel truly special because that is who she is!! I heartily recommend Checkered Flag for their great food and and their even greater people!! I rate them 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ and 5 hearts!! ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️“
