“Great local restaurant. The owners support and source a lot of the ingredients from local farm. Perfectly cooked and beautifully presented salmon and my friend had the shrimp and grits which was creamy and so much flavor. The side dish of okra fries was hot and crispy.“

“My first time coming here I really enjoyed the food getting takeout. I got the lunch special with fish, mac and cheese, mashed potatoes and gravy and paid extra for a slice of carrot cake, I would definitely come and get the same meal again. Just wish they were open for dinner and weekends, hard to make it during the week while working.“

“First time at this place and it was a hit! We will be back ~ the fried fish was sooo good-perfect amount of breading and crisp. The mashed potatoes are also good; seem like real potatoes (not a powder mix or something.)
My husband had the chicken and dumplings and enjoyed it too!
The Mac & cheese is good but was a little sweet for my liking.
I originally came her because I was interested in the crab Rangoon type appetizer but I guess they are not serving it anymore.
The service was nice; our waiter was attentive without being overbearing! Food came out quick but it wasn’t too busy when we came.
Atmosphere is okay, nothing special, just right though! Good music :)“

“My sweetie and I visited this establishment Saturday 6/13/26. I must say the staff was very friendly and helpful. I want too especially give a hat's off to 2 ladies in this establishment, GM Chelsea and our waitress Emma, they were great. They saw to all our needs. And I must say the food was outstanding. We truly enjoyed our visit here. I will most defiantly recommend the Smoke Pit to my driver friends. See you soon. Thanks again ladies!!!“

“I placed a catering order of Salmon, Flounder ,Zucchini and Squash. Ben Helms at the Monroe location was so accommodating and helpful. His team prepared all the food and it was fabulous, seasoned to perfection, on time and did not disappoint. I will use Showmars in Monroe for my next event. So happy, I made the right choice, everyone enjoyed everything absolutely delicious.“

“I have always taken my mom to the Golden Corral in Mathews for Thanksgiving since my grandmother passed and this is the cleanest and best Golden Corral I’ve ever been in. The manager runs such a great crew on busy holidays and he overlooks the dining room constantly making sure everybody is happy with service. He communicates very good with everybody and will help out his crew with any service someone needs. Such a great manager during these holiday times and me and my mom really appreciate this guy and all of his crew“

“So, I left this same review on Google, but I feel it needs to be seen in more places! Golden Corral in Monroe, NC, thank you for giving us that taste that most Golden Corrals have lost! Wife and I stopped in for lunch on a work trip. Honestly we had lost all hope in Golden Corrals, but something made me choose this one today. Wife and I were very surprised when we first came in contact with the cashier, and she actually had a pleasant attitude. Next, we grabbed our plates and headed to the buffet. The food had just been brought out. Normally an issue at these stores, the food sits there too long, so I figured it was just stroke of luck with them just bringing food out. So anyway, we got our first plates, and OH MY GOD, that first bite took us back to what Golden Corral was in the 90s!! This food was AMAZING!! Including the mashed potatoes that another comment said tasted bad. I counted at least 3 times they brought fresh food out of the back. We were there on a hour lunch. So yes, they kept food fresh! All the food was great! And our server….on point with everything. We didnt have one empty glass, and dirty plates didnt stay on the table long at all, she was also very friendly! I dont know whats with all the comments bashing this place, but our experience today was beyond what we hoped for. THIS is the way all Golden Corral stores need to be!“

“Absolutely loved the food. The chicken gravy on a homemade biscuit was some of the best gravy I've had. The biscuit was fresh and tasted like Mom's homemade. The creamy grits were right on. Added on a side of fresh tasty fruit. Couple all of this with a couple of scrambled eggs and my mouth was watering for more.
The outdoor tables under roof allowed us to enjoy the weather without the sunburn. The server was extra helpful and attentive.
This was a very good day. I'll be back.“
