11 Best Vegetarian Restaurants near Mars Hill

“We were up in Mars Hill to have a lookie-loo, and sadly there were not many restaurants open - most seem to open at night. We drove past the Wagon Wheel, but I nixed the idea as I am a bit tired of country cooking. We were maybe 5 miles heading back to Asheville, and hubs was looking at the menu. Well we ended up doing a U-ie!

Place was busy! Lots of locals who all know one another it seems. It also seems that many of them eat there every day! We were NOT disappointed. Our server Caitlin was fantastic. I had the Philly cheesesteak with fries and it was yummy. Arnold Palmer was on point. Hubs went cuckoo! He had the meatloaf special. Meatloaf was good, but the mashed taters and gravy were delicious. Turnip greens were excellent as was the fried okra and fried yellow squash. We got some of their tortilla chicken soup to go - will be for dinner tomorrow.

All in all, it was an excellent meal. Came in around $24 for the two of us. Highly recommend.“

“Great food, service, & beer selection! The fried pepperoni & cheese curds were delicious. My wife liked the firecracker shrimp Alfredo, but said it had some spice. The Greek platter was amazing as well. I got the combination to try both the lamb & chicken. The chicken tasted like souvlaki & was good, but I favored the lamb. I typically would order an old fashioned, but they did not have large blocks of ice. Given what Helene’s impact on western NC, I was happy to see this restaurant thriving & folks in good spirit. This place is a gem for the community, and I highly recommend.“

“My husband and I along with our son stopped here to check out the pastries as I love anything sweet. There was a short line but it moved quickly. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. A very pleasant young man took our order. One of the locals standing beside us in line recommended the mountain eclair so we did order one along with a variety of cheesecake, cookies and a couple of pies. We waited just a few minutes for our order to be packed up. The inside is very charming with lots of wood and marble. I liked the open display case, so that we could see all of the pastries. Every single item we ate was delicious, and I would definitely recommend visiting this bakery anytime you’re near Asheville or the surrounding towns. The bakery is very clean, the staff is very nice and seem to work well together, and all of the food we had was excellent! 10/10!!“

“We stopped here for breakfast at apx 11 am this morning, 07/07/23. We sat at the counter due to all seats being taken, busy place. Service was great, food was excellent, staff were all friendly and helpful and the camaraderie among them was easy and comfortable . The two 'grillmasters 'Bob' and ? sorry I forgot to ask her name ..were amazing to watch. 8 plates up and no tickets, mind boggling. “One of the guys showing folk to their tables was very rude, yeah, you know who you are! Everyone else was great and food was good. If you show up before your party don't ask to get a table and for sure when the rude table guy says you have to wait don't ask him to explain. I've eaten there many times but I think I'll go somewhere else from now on. Maybe the guy just had a bad day, who knows. I know losing my limited business won't hurt them but I'd rather be somewhere appreciated.“
