“Davis Donut House is one of those true Forest City originals — a place with history, heart, and donuts so good they’ve become a local legend. The shop first opened in 1972, founded by Charles and Shirley Davis as the town’s very first bakery, and for decades they welcomed customers starting at 5:30 a.m. until the last donut was gone. Over the years, ownership passed through caring local hands, but the commitment to tradition never changed. Their most famous creation — the Orange Twist — is a true Forest City icon. It accounts for more than half of their entire business and is something you can only get here. They also offer more than 25 varieties of donuts, all made fresh daily, with the bakery producing around 2,000 dozen donuts each week to meet the demand.
One thing every local knows: you have to get there early. These donuts sell out fast, especially on weekends, and once they’re gone, they’re gone. The early‑morning crowd is part of the charm — a sign of just how beloved this place is.
