“I've ALWAYS had good meals - BUT, Saturday had fish and chips and it was horrible. The fish tasted nasty (bad oil?) fries were not great, and the coldshaw smelled sour. The salad was good. The 5 others we dined with had a good experience. I was disappointed I didn't get food at LJS :) But the environment is much better at RL.“

“My wife and I were passing through Kearney and wanted a nice dinner to enjoy while traveling together. The Coppermill was rated high, and ChatGPT even suggested it as popular with the locals. We were excited. There were no hours listed on or near the entry, but online we learned that it doesn’t open until 4pm, so we killed 30 min next door browsing that shop.
The doors opened a little behind schedule, but that is forgivable. We were seated and learned that the bartender wasn’t in yet, but the waitress offered to mix an old fashioned (they do not serve bloody Mary’s at all).
We ordered the tallow candle and bread. It was quite bland.
I ordered 14oz ribeye and baked potato, and side salad. The ribeye was medium rare but burnt on the ends, even my wife said it tasted like candle wax when she tasted it. Salad was wilted. Baked potato did not have enough sour cream.
My wife ordered the French dip sandwich with onions and mushrooms. She liked the horsey sauce, but the sandwich was lacking in flavor. It tasted microwaved.
For the price, we had expected to be impressed, if not wowed. Neither of us finished our meal, nor felt compelled to take any of our leftovers home. Very disappointed in the quality of the meal.“
