“This is the best restaurant on Offutt! No, that’s not saying much as the base offers little in the way of food because the surrounding area has so much to offer.

Come here to grab a bite to eat, talk with the staff, and enjoy the mysteries of Bldg D. You cannot beat the prices, and the rotating monthly specials (in addition to Rita’s Spaghetti on Wednesday) are always crowd pleasers.

I’ve been going here for years (because it’s so convenient on the North Side of base)! I’ve never had a bad meal nor a bad experience.”

I asked Jackie, and she suggested the Mount Vernon. It did NOT disappoint!!! I loved it so much and truly was refreshing like she said! Thank you for the amazing & friendly service! “My wife and I were in town for the "Beyond Van Gogh" exhibit at the Mid-America Center. Afterward, we looked up restaurants near us and chose La Sierra because several reviews mentioned authentic cuisine. We were not misled. The menu is small and straight forward. Pick your fillings and choose it in either a gordita, burrito, quesadilla or on a plate. We both got selections as gorditas. My wife ordered: Asado De Puerco, Picadillo Verde and Picadillo Rojo. I ordered: Papas Con Carne, Papas Con Chorizo and Deshabrada. I also wound up getting a burrito with Machaca. All the meats were seasoned nicely and delicious. Both the verde and rojo salsas they brought out enhanced the food. The rojo does have a kick (same sauce as in the Desshbrada) but the heat didn't linger so eating it was enjoyable. The margarita I ordered was delicious, made with real lime juice. Some people might complain because it is regular sized, served in a glass roughly the size of a martini glass. It isn't a gigantic gimmick you find in a lot of American-Mexican restaurants. It hit the spot! The fruit empanadas were lovely, the crust similar to a sugar cookie with strawberry or apricot. We tried both and thought the apricot won by a hair. Its sweet flavor was slightly stronger than the strawberry. The service was excellent, both our server and the gentleman from the kitchen (maybe owner) who brought out food to the table were extremely friendly and a pleasure to speak with. We've marked La Sierra in our "must do again" list and when we care back in Omaha, we will be stopping in.”

The food was absolutely astronomical, and the drinks were perfect. The coffee was out of this world, too—hands down the best meal I've had in a long time. The overall atmosphere was so comfy, cozy, and relaxed—it’s the perfect spot to unwind. I’ll definitely be back!”

“A journey brought me to Papillion, Nebraska – a town where the pace slows and local flavors shine. tucked among the neighborhood streets is a spot well worth the stop: Canigilia’s a Mano. This unassuming local eatery delivers the kind of comfort and quality that only comes from doing things right. I ordered the Sicilian chef salad, thin crust sausage and peppers pizza, and it arrived exactly the way it should: salad fresh and pleasing with perfect dressing, Pizza – crisp-edged, hot, with perfectly balanced layers of savory sausage, sweet peppers and enough char. There’s nothing flashy here – just hospitality done right, a warm welcome, and food that respects tradition. If you are any where near Papillion and craving something real, this is a table worth sitting at. As a side note – I also ordered the Sicilian sub, saving it for the next day’s lunch – and it didn’t disappoint. hearty, well layered, and full of bold flavor. It held up beautifully overnight.”

“I’ve driven by this spot countless times and finally stopped in - and I can’t wait to bring my family and others back with me. This spot is definitely underrated. Their menu is limited and specialized for sure, with only a few main dish options, but this is because everything is super fresh. As a vegetarian, I was pleased that they had a combination of all their different lentils and veggies that they had to offer all put together in a giant plate - and I mean GIANT. Each lentil dish, green, red, and yellow, had a distinct difference in flavor profile. The yellow was my favorite, being the creamiest, and the red was richer and deep - warming me from the inside out. There was also a variety of vegetables from a fresh salad to cooked greens, and then a cooked cabbage. I couldn’t believe that everything was so unique from each other! The mind chutney (maybe?) was a perfect way to add freshness between bites. One piece of the experience that makes it truly unique is that everything is served on their bread rather than with utensils, and you get additional on the side to pull apart and start dipping and grabbing and mixing up every bite.

I left truly stuffed to the brim feeling that every bite had been worth every penny! The ambiance is casual, with pieces of Ethiopian pottery and tapestry hung around. The service was kind and personal, with the chef herself coming out to check on how we were doing and what we liked best!”

“delish! wonderful pumpkin spice latte, chai, matcha, and golden milk. also big fan of the vegan pastries. only critique i’d give is not replacing my dads coffee which he strongly disliked, and charging him for an espresso shot which he asked for as a replacement. we spent a lot here in our short weekend in omaha so that service decision definitely disappointed us.”

“That was completely unexpected and just DELICIOUS. We went on a Saturday evening based on fantastic Google reviews and they were NOT WRONG! Mexican street food with global influences. Elote corn, Ramen Fries, Asado and Chilango Burrito. The Chilango burrito was the front runner but everything was soo flavorful. It isb ocated on the north side of the strip mall on the northwest side of 50th and L. It is not easily visible from the street. They apparently will be expanding into the next bay. It is very casual (order at the counter) but very clean. It is easily accessible with only a threshold and a swinging door. We spent $40 for 2 apps, two entrees, a soda and a beer. If I thought I could eat more food and live, I would have gotten the Tres Leches Cake. Strongly recommend!”

“Roma’s definitely does not disappoint. I visit every time in town. Service (Sara - no h) was awesome. Huge portions from the apps to the main meal. MUST GET GARLIC & OLIVE OIL DIPPING SAUCE for the bread. Beware it’s addictive and will fill you up before the main course. Main meal could easily be split between 2-3 people, but also great reheated. Kudos to the buss crew who immediately cleared tables as patrons left the establishment.
