“My daughter and I have been wanting to try the soup flight for a while. Today was the day! We both had the daily lunch soup flight special. We both ordered corned beef sandwiches which were delicious and came with fries, coleslaw, pickle, and the soup flight. For the soup choices I got the cream of potato, split pea, and vegetable beef. My daughter got cream of potato, tomato orzo, and vegetable beef. They were all so good! We can’t wait to go again! Looking forward to coming for dinner and trying the salad bar which also looked delicious. Very friendly service as well!“

“Can’t count how many times we’ve been here but here is my review of Silk City.

The food was excellent. Can’t go wrong in any order. Loved the ambiance. The drinks were good. It’s good to have a reservation as this place gets packed every time, but they could accommodate you to the diner section. Service at the diner section usually takes longer. Lots of parking around the area, but it’s better if you take Lyft or Uber. Staff were amazing and really friendly.

We will always go back to this place.“

“Sakura was a staple takeout spot for us while we lived at Hyde Park Apartments. The food is always fresh, nicely presented, and above all delicious. Service was quick and friendly. They even began to remember my name and to put spicy mayo on the side for all of my orders. Top notch sushi place for anyone remotely close by.“

Today's order of a burger, fries and coleslaw was delivered with a giant container of onion rings instead of the burger. Like how does it go out the door without the entree? “I was worried that Oceanos was gone, like so many great places, another victim of the pandemic. A place called Avenue Diner took its place, and hey, guys… it’s the same family and servers and great food!! Yay! Had dinner with my daughter there this past Friday and was so pleased! The service is every bit as terrific, homey, and individualized as I remember. The food is still amazing and the prices reasonable. My daughter had roast turkey with plenty of stuffing and gravy, which she loved. The salads were very fresh and the dressings were perfect. The rolls and herb butter were warm and fresh. I had salmon which was broiled perfectly, moist with an herb butter sauce. The vegetable was done exactly the way I requested. We took an omelet home for someone who missed the outing and he pronounced it the best restaurant omelet he ever had. Finally, I took a quart on vegetable soup home and ate it the next day. I swear it was my grandmother’s old recipe - large cuts of multiple vegetables including zucchini and carrots and cabbage and more in a perfect veggie broth. Wish I had more right now! So, give Avenue Diner a try… it is worth your time and money. It made me smile!“

“Dad and daughter were working the place together with dad cooking and daughter taking the orders. So friendly and sweet. They have a kiosk or you can place the order with the daughter. The food was good, I had a waffle with eggs and got a breakfast sandwich for my partner on a long roll.“

“Huge fan, I’ve never had a bad sandwich at Johnny Hot’s, until today 8/30/24. I was supposed to have just pork roll on a steak roll with spicy mustard, no egg and no cheese. The pork roll is usually cut very thin with a nice braise on it. It had egg & cheese on it. The egg & cheese were warm the meat was cool, no grill color to it. By the time I took the egg & cheese off there was hardly any pork roll, very disappointed. It was “no change” Friday, so I gave my apprentice 15 dollars for a sandwich I couldn’t even eat.“

“For my first time visiting it was very nice. The young lady who served me and my wife was very patient and kind. The food we ordered came out fast and was great as far as taste. The only small problem was the room temp was a little too cold and our food got cold fast. Overall, for my first time, I enjoyed the peacefulness and tranquility in the atmosphere.“

“Let me start by saying don't go in here expecting a traditional restaurant experience. This is an old school, fast paced, self-serve/take-out style diner that is CASH ONLY (has an ATM). That, however, is EXACTLY what I want for good breakfast on a busy weekday morning. And good doesn't begin to describe it. Staff are a well oiled machine used to a very busy fast-paced environment who are there to get your order, give you your food, and let you move on with your day.
Now the food. Let me say, it isn't hard to make good home fries, but these were AMAZING. Onions and peppers in perfectly made home fries with perfect consistency and a taste to die for. No need to season them as they were perfectly seasoned. In my almost 41 years of life, these are the best damned home fries I've ever had! My eggs were made perfectly over medium with wonderful runny yolk like I love them and were wonderfully flavorful. Sausage patties were delicious as well, partner got pancakes that were fluffy and sweet even before the butter and syrup. Excellent diner, fast service. For anyone that likes this kind of place, it is up there for best ever!“

“Took myself and my better half here for the first time today as I've lived in this part of the neighborhood for over a year and a half now and have passed by several times and wanted to give it a try. I order eggs sunny side, home fries w/ onion and scrapple, my fiancé ordered french toast with bacon and side of scrambled eggs. Everything was delicious and fresh, kept topping off the coffee and the servers and people behind the counter were all friendly, made us feel like one of their own. Noticed by the customer traffic coming in and out that there were alot of locals. Definitely a place we will make ourselves regulars. I see why Kitty's has been here for 70 years.“

Home fries were a little dry, there was a pound of butter on my toast , which i requested un-buttered.
Service was ok considering a not so busy morning time.

“I would have given five stars , but the issue is not with the food or the service or the Atmosphere. The issue is with their credit card and debit card system whatever you want to call it. This is the first time since I've opened this bank account that THIS HAS HAPPENED!!!IT took 2 weeks to first take the original charge and then after the fact took another week to take the tip. This bank account has been so fantastic that the amounts that get taken off usually get taken off immediately right away. But not with this diner and this is not the first time i've experienced this.“
