“I stopped by RU Hungry recently, and I’m so glad I did! The food is absolutely delicious — fresh, flavorful, and made to order. I had one of their signature fat sandwiches, and it was packed with everything you could want in a comfort meal: crispy fries, juicy chicken, and just the right amount of sauce. You can really tell they take pride in what they serve.
The staff was friendly and efficient, even with a steady stream of customers. The vibe is laid-back and welcoming — perfect for a quick bite or a late-night craving.
If you’re in Newark and looking for something filling and satisfying, RU Hungry is the spot. I’ll definitely be coming back!“

“This is the first 5 Star restaurant we have found in NJ since moving in 1991 from Manhatten. Four of us went this past sunday evening. Everything was 5 star, including food; Niavh's (Irish name pronounced as Nieve) service; and the personable manager, Dave. Gorgeous wood and glass. Great Ambience. Easy to park. Could not be happier!“

“I don’t even know where to start. Their food is always amazing and you really can’t go wrong. My favorite is the nachos though. Best vegan queso ever. Had the chicken Caesar wraps last time and they were great too. Do not leave without getting the chocolate PB tart.“

“The staff was extremely welcoming and helpful.
Vegetarian options: The asparagus was prepared perfectly; fresh, savory, and crispy. The arroz con gandules (yellow rice with beans) was delicious. Wanted to take some to go but it had sold out. Which is a good sign. Plantains were tender soft and tasty.
Parking: Ample parking available“

“This is a franchise but you'd never know. The food is wonderful. I'm a vegetarian and there is so much to choose from I chose the veggie burger and it was wonderful. The best I've tasted. The lemon tart was Devine. The service was impeccable“

“Came across this restaurant as I was searching for Black owned eateries in this new neighborhood we just moved to. When we arrived, the exterior was a little off putting, LOL! So glad Shaun himself stepped out as well as a gentleman who came to pick up his order. We got to ask his opinion of the food. He told us this was his 7th time back so we thought, Let’s give it a try! $58 later, we got 3 meals and WOW! Delicious!!! Everything was so GOOD! Catfish, Yams, Mac n Cheese (and I am VERY picky about Mac n cheese), Honey Garlic Salmon, BBQ wings, rice and gravy and that cornbread!!!! Definitely coming back! I hope this review helps another skeptic not miss out on a GREAT SPOT!!!!! Worth the try! The portions are hearty! So glad we decided to give it a shot!!!“

“The owner or guy at the front was a pleasure to meet and clearly understands the benefit of eye contact and customer service. I ordered the cheese steak. The sandwich itself was juicy, flavorful and nice sized for the price. My issue is I wish they would wrap the sandwich in parchment paper cut in half and then wrap in the foil wrapper. The sandwich is juicy but sloppy and drips everywhere. If it were wrapped better you could enjoy the sandwich like a gentleman. Enjoyed overall and on another note I give this brother big respect. He employs all black men. And as one I love seeing that. Respect brother!“

“Dishes are not consistent. My meatloaf was burned so badly they put a lot of BBQ sauce on it to cover it up. This was done despite the fact that I requested no sauce. Next time I requested one blackened whiting dish and was given fried whiting.“

“RIP OFF PLACE......DONT GO!!
I went there to meet a friend of Thursday night at 1130pm ans only 4 people in place....had a few drinks and bill came very high...but DJ was pretty good
I didn't say anything , just paid bill. I decided to go back last night ( Saturday) at 11pm....it had more people. The barmaid i seen Thursday was working and greeted me nicely.
I decided to buy a bottle of Don Juilo I asked the.price and she said $200 so I figured I spent more on Thursday so why not.
As the night was passing I offered the barmaid a shot and drink, of course she accepted.
Keep in mind no one the barmaid or the manager i formed me of any house rules.
The night went on and my bill came....It was $ 550.00!!
I asked why the barmaid said I have to for their drinks.
Bottle $200
Invitation fee per girl $ 30
Plus the drink $20 each time.
That added to $200 and then they added a tip of 25% on top of taxes too.
Then I did t finish the bottle had half left, as I was talking to manager the cleaned my table and switch an empty bottle saying there.is nothing g in there for them to hold.....very rude
When I ask and so no one ever told me these rules.
Did nt even offer to work something out.....just wanted bill paid.
I will be reporting the to town chambers and.Better business
RUN ...DO NOT EVER GO THERE!!!!“
