There's no substitution for the intimate understanding of food put on display at B&S. If they're selling something, it's the best version of it you'll ever have.
We were treated to these donuts from our colleague. Omggggg the filled vanilla creme DONUT is PERFECTION .. Wow!!!

Lines are long on weekends but I recommend weekends over weekdays, like other part time bakeries on the area they bake more items for the weekends. Love the cream donuts, the orange cream was one of the best donuts I ever tried anywhere.

Bread and Salt is a love letter to Italy, baked goods, sandwiches, bread, and more. This is a singularly unique place. The ingredients are 100% authentic. The bakery is a little stand on Palisade Ave. The bombolonis were some of the best ever, with fresh vanilla pastry cream. The mozzarella/prosciutto sandwich was underwhelming and overpriced. The potato and margherita pizza slices were great. The best cappuccino in town is served here. The pastries are traditional Italian bakery offerings. The sandwiches are what the reviewer likes most, with best-in-class prosciutto. The bread is delicious. The focaccia and sandwiches are great for lunch, and the rotating soups/stews are a hidden gem. A brioche filled with fresh ricotta and lemon curd is just perfect. The service never feels overwhelmed. The place is a little quirky with the days it is open and pizza only after 1. There is hardly any street parking, so plan ahead. Various Italian products for sale include jarred sauces and dried pasta.
