“The older woman at the front counter (I forgot her name) extremely kind and helpful. There was a big lunch rush and she was apologizing for the long wait. She made all my food fresh and it was absolutely delicious. I had the beef and potato, chicken chipotle, and the apple crisp empanada and they were all fantastic. High recommend this place for any empanada lovers !“

“This restaurant offers a no frills, homey vibe! I have been there several times and always find warm, friendly staff and food cooked to perfection! The beef empanada, stewed chicken, fried chicken, rice and beans, plantains are incredible! The food is so delicious and the prices very reasonable! We will continue to go there!“

“This is a small business that makes you feel at home even from different ethnicity. We are a fmaily of 7 and accomodated us very well. My kids are extremely picky and 3 of them chose the chicken tacos and loved them! One had the quesadilla and he is the most picky he ate some and took the rest for the next day. I am very picky with Mexican authentic food but this surpass all the restaurants I have been to in PA (I live in PA)! Al Azar plate was awesome and my baby is not one to eat much and she was eating the rice. My husband had the Caldo beef. To my surprise that was the most tasty soup I have tasted and the 1st Mexican soup I have tasted! The horchata was out of this world good! Will definitely go back again! I told the server that my son had a shellfish allergy and respected that! I bet the rest of the dishes are just as good!Parking: It’s a small location with parking. “It was like dining in a 5 star establishment. I had the surf & turf. The jumbo shrimp.was perfectly cooked and the steak tips unbelievably great. I never had their specialty desert cake. “Stopped by for lunch today and was blown away. Aside from over a dozen fried empanadas to choose from, they had five baked varieties on display. Inside is seating for 20, a soda fountain and a small drink fridge with about 10 options. Empanada are $6 but double the size you'll find elsewhere. I got the chicharrones de cerdo bowl. Served piping hot and fresh, the pork wasn't hard but had great flavor and chew. The sauteed red onions were a nice touch on top of a bed of fluffy white rice and iconic black beans. The squeeze of lime over everything married all the flavors together giving it that zesty acidity. $15.98 and well worth it, could only finish half.It took less than 10 minutes to prepare.Parking: Better off in the back or on a side street“

“As a patron of the Tenafly location, I wanted to try the Montclair locale. Parking isn't great around there but we managed. The cocktails were good. There was a grilled octopus plate served with a salad as an appetizer and it was delicious! Most of the entrees were seasoned okay but nothing stood out. One of our 5 dishes came out wrong but corrected within 5 minutes. The original dish was meant for another table and we got the correct plate quickly. Noise level was normal for a Friday night. Very nice ambiance - decor wise. Would return.“

“I finally had the chance to have a sit down meal by myself and was not disappointed at all. 5 stars in all categories is very rare for me to give but when its perfect its deserving. My server had me scan a code for a review of his service but i lost it. I believe his name was Manuel (my apologies if i may be wrong). I was there on Tuesday about 5pm party of 1 my total was $68. I had the Mary Mar with roasted potatoes along with sangria if that helps you figure out the server. He deserves special mention for exceptional service. From my dining experience i tend to remember the level of service before i remember the meal. Servers set the tone and create the dining experience from beginning to end. It's imperative they are well trained and understand the importance of the role they play for the restaurant. The food is outstanding in taste and presentation. The atmosphere is relaxing and the place is well decorated. Thank you for the perfect dining experience.“
