“The staff was extremely welcoming and helpful.

Vegetarian options: The asparagus was prepared perfectly; fresh, savory, and crispy. The arroz con gandules (yellow rice with beans) was delicious. Wanted to take some to go but it had sold out. Which is a good sign. Plantains were tender soft and tasty.

“This place is awesome and a god send at 1am when I have munchies. It’s super filling and I always end up saving half a sandwich for the next day. The cakes (I’ve gotten all flavors) are also heavy, but I recommend the all chocolate one the best. The fried Oreos are good too. Everything slaps here, I recommend if you need comfort fat food.“

“This is the first 5 Star restaurant we have found in NJ since moving in 1991 from Manhatten. Four of us went this past sunday evening. Everything was 5 star,including food; Niavh's (Irish name pronounced as Nieve) service; and the personable manager, Dave. Gorgeous wood and glass. Great Ambience. Easy to park. “Omg this place is amazing! My husband loved his nachos! I absolutely loved the eggplant! One of the best eggplant dishes I've had! And their cheese on the eggplant is so smooth and creamy and delicious! The po boy sandwich, rigatoni, and peri peri fries were all delicious as well. We live in Brooklyn but will definitely be returning!! Ramp to enter. ADA stalls with grab bars in gendered restrooms“

“Went there today to bring Lolo and Lola for lunch. Would highly recommend the sisig. I ordered the tapa rice bowl and maybe next time ask for the garlic rice. Food over all was good. Personally not a fan of sweet meat but will still will go back.“

“My family and I met up in Jersey from three states (Colorado, North Carolina and Virginia). We googled a few places for brunch/soul food and decided to try Vonda’s. Small quaint location and when we were initially seated we questioned the service from our waiter. However things quickly changed, other employees engaged with us influencing a positive experience. The food came out and was AMAZING. It was 5 of us so we had a variety of items (fried chicken, oxtails, greens & cabbage mix, Mac n cheese, potato salad, black eye peas etc…) While enjoying our meal Ms. Vonda came out to speak to us and ensure we were having a pleasant experience. Owners are not that engaged these days so that was a great touch. In addition on of the hostess (missed her name, so we will call her “the dj” ) was great and funny. I mean EVERYTHING was delicious, great experience and genuine company. You must try this place!“

“I come to this location at least once a month and every single time the food has been amazing. The Manager Luis is absolutely the best. He is always super engaging with anyone that comes up including his staff and it’s definitely very refreshing to see. Definitely recommend stopping by the melt shop when you’re in the mall!“
