“I love coming to Wasai Bistro whenever I’m visiting the east coast. I’ve followed Chef Nelson since his days at Aozora and Wabi Sabi. His food quality, menu options, and value are unmatched in the area. Once you try his food you will understand why he has so many repeat diners. I highly recommend the Mes Reves Roll, Uni and bone marrow ramen, Miso glazed sea bass entree and salmon lover entree but it’s very hard to go wrong with anything Chef Nelson serves. Parking is street parking only but honestly I’ve always had a very easy time finding a spot. BYOB so you can drink what you love.“

“I had the honor privilege and luck of being the very first customer to be served at Kanpachi Sushi during their grand opening on 4/29/2022. The very first think I noticed was how friendly and inviting the staff is, they make you feel welcome the second that you step into their establishment. The second thing I noticed was the how the new renovation which makes you want to come in and have a seat at a table or sit at the sushi bar to watch the sushi master construct your order before your eyes. I am impressed with the addition of this new business to Amboy Ave. The food is fresh, top-quality ingredients prepared by a world class chief and sushi master. I had lunch there yesterday and today. Oh, and did I mention that Kanpachi is a BYOB establishment? Sushi steak and Hibachi lovers, do yourself a favor and get over there. “Food is very different from the original place Mahzu which is to be expected as it is a different place. Here at Kobe, the hibachi is over sauced and salty and the shrimp and filet mignon is not good quality. The tempura rolls are over fried. The fried rice and noodles are bland and are cooked with way too much margarine or lard as they call it which is a bit greasy and bland. Bring back Mazhu cooks! Nicely decorated. Staff is attentive and friendly.“

“A nice little spot for sushi conveniently located next to Shoprite. Personally, if there was an option for 6 or 7 stars, then I would rate it 6-7 stars. The food contain a good amount of meat with crunchy and juicy toppings. The spicy tuna roll is meaty, with not too much rice content. The Philadelphia roll was a shocker. Usually, we don't like cream cheese on fish and rice, but it was surprisingly good. The best roll was probably the spicy salmon roll. It was huge, and contained a bunch of toppings. 6-7 stars, highly recommend.“

“One of the best things about Sakura is that the prices are very reasonable for the quality you get. The portions are generous, and even the more elaborate rolls don’t feel overpriced. One of the things I really appreciate about this place is that it’s perfect for both me and my girlfriend. We have different tastes. I’m a huge fan of raw sushi and she prefers cooked dishes. Thankfully, Sakura offers plenty of great options for her too. Her favorite is the Chicken Teriyaki Bento Box. This place strikes the perfect balance of quality, variety and value. “Very homie spot. It's definitely more of a to-go spot since they don't really serve you on actual plates in the restaurant. Both miso soup and rice came in a to go cup, all entree are in Togo containers. That being said the food is good, the rice always warm and the fish is fresh. Then, over a decade later, I accidentally find out that they have relocated back to the area near me. Speaking of palpable… in their journey before returning to Middlesex County, in Highland Park this time around, they have made their menu even BETTER, which seems almost impossible for a place so legendary, but it’s true. They are the best version of themselves they’ve EVER been! If sushi restaurants have a glow up era, they most definitely are at the summit of it, and will most certainly remain there, as legends do. They have quick and accurate service and the staff even go as far to create personal connection with their customers. They have a great variety of foods on their menu that are all delicious. Its very easy to take out or eat in, and they accept all forms of payment. They don't usually mind if you bring outside drinks. It's usually a bit slow and quiet which makes it a great place to sit and study.
