“Jack's Surf & Turf in Montclair, NJ, is our absolute favorite spot! This hidden gem in Montclair is a must-visit. Over the years, we've celebrated countless Girls' night-out birthdays here, and it never disappoints. From the moment you arrive until the time you leave, every detail is perfect. Greg, the owner, is incredibly welcoming and attentive; he treats us like family. Keeps our wine glasses full, and ensures we feel valued while also attending to other valued guests. The vibe is truly inviting, fabulous, super amazing & memorable! The menu offers a wonderful, wide variety of fresh and expertly cooked seafood, seafood boils, grilled steaks, salads, soups, OMG lobster mac & cheese, burgers, tacos, and scrumptious desserts! Everything is delicious, and the prices are more than reasonable, outstanding value! Highly recommend making a reservation, especially on weekends. You can BYOB; however, their wine selection is impressive as well. Generous portions, secure parking, and impeccably clean restrooms. Servers are always friendly and accommodating, happily fulfilling special requests. Nice music and occasional live entertainment enhance the experience. The Millburn, NJ, location is equally fantastic! We always start with our favorite Arugula salad - generous portions. House salad, also incredible! We adore Garlic Old Bay Shrimp appetizers, fried calamari, crab cakes, BUTTERY lobster rolls, OMG!. For our entrées, we couldn't resist going all in! Seafood Linguine in Garlic Sauce, steamed clams, mussels, grilled salmon, and lobster tails with crabmeat stuffing (seasonal). If you don't see something on the menu that piques your interest, just ask your server if they can prepare it for you. What impresses me most is Greg's attention to detail, passion, and creativity in delivering exceptional, high-quality food, ensuring each guest feels welcome and appreciated. “I admit I didn’t have very high hopes when I came across this spot as a recommended lunch place; maybe I was afraid to be disappointed since I love Vietnamese cuisine.

But I am happy to report that my order was delicious (I got the bun). Excellent flavors, great mix of textures and colors, perfectly seasoned. My only hope is that they offer bowls of pho broth in the future.

“We enjoyed a gorgeous dinner at La Rocca Osteria, on the corner of Midland Avenue and Portland Place (a block south-east of Valley Road and a block north-east of Bloomfield Avenue), this week. The food was brilliant - fresh, flavorful and great portion sizes. I was thrilled with my choices of the buratta salad, crabmeat-stuffed lobster tail with mashed potatoes and a chocolate mousse cake. My fella demolished the mussels and clams in a white wine and garlic sauce, lasagne (he thought it was so delicious that he even bought a second portion to give to his dad) and cheesecake. I almost wish I’d taken photographs, but I was more interested in the experience than documenting it. The service was fantastic as well - friendly, calm, organized and reliable. Parking nearby wasn’t difficult either. It’s the second time we’ve eaten there; the first was on our first date. It was just as lovely then too.“

“My husband and I dined here for a day-after Valentine's celebration. Our 7:00 reservation allowed us to be seated right away. The playlist was stellar. It was all the music I grew up listening to as a kid, and it made me feel at home. McKenzie was our server and she was incredibly professional, kind, and attentive. The menu has so many great choices, but the specials shouldn't be slept on either! Here's what we had: Appetizers: -Brussels sprouts salad with sliced apple, marinated feta, roasted squash, candied pecans, quinoa and tossed in a vinaigrette - Kabocha squash ravioli in a braised beef and peanut ragu, crispy eggplant and a peanut-green bean crumble. Entrées: -Flat iron steak in a mustard-sherry au poive sauce, carmelized onions, and potato churritos -Fresh cavatelli in an escargot sauce, shelled escargot, topped with a parsley butter crumb - Side of sautéed wild mushrooms with sage and citrus Dessert: -Orange and cardamom olive oil cake, assorted coffee and tea. The food was stunning. Every bite was a hit and truly made with love. Such thoughtful flavor combinations and interesting applications, all the while cooked perfectly. We had the opportunity to speak with Beverly, and we learned so much about her passions for the industry and the pride she has for the products she creates. Augustine greets you when you arrive and you are seated in their lovely dining room. This Montclair BYO restaurant provides the perfect place to gather with family and friends. Service is prompt and attentive and the menu is varied with something for even your more finicky eaters. You will not be disappointed by both the familiar Italian standards and the creative specials. We recently hosted a holiday party for 24 and the group is still talking about the event. Pappardelle provide choice of packages at different prices for groups . We chose a package which began with family style appetizers followed by pasta and salad courses and then a choice of several main dishes with dessert and coffee. We were not rushed and enjoyed our evening. Thank you to Augustine and his staff for creating a memorable event for our group.“
