“Last month, (August) I was invited by a pastor friend, who lives in Jersey, to meet at Island Jerky, and when I initially saw the restaurant I thought it was closed down because it looked dilapidated. But when I got close enough, I saw it was open, and there were only two tables, one table, the owner John and his daughter, Ouida, were sitting; so my pastor friend, along with 2 other pastor friends sat at the other table. At first, I was suspicious that the food was not going to meet my high standard for good authentic Jamaican food. My wife and I travel all over the country looking for good Jamaican food and we know what's good and what's a "knock off". I chose a safe order and ordered the Jerk Chicken while my pastor friends ordered the oxtails and rice. Unfortunately, you can only get rice and cabbage with your meat on the weekdays, but you can get Mac and cheese on the weekends. Man oh man, I was pleasantly surprised by the well marinated jerk taste in the chicken. You could tell the meat was seasoned through and through, and then I tasted my friends oxtails and rice and I was smitten. I fell in love with Island Jerk so much that I told my wife that she had to come and taste the food. So, we drove all the way from Blue Bell, Pa to Willingboro, NJ for Jerk Chicken and oxtails, and it seemed like it was better than the first time! My wife was in awe of how meaty and savory the oxtails were. In fact, the platters are so meaty you can get two meals out of them. The large oxtail platter was $23 dollars and the large jerk chicken platter was $19 dollars. Compared to a lot of Jamaican restaurants that was a good price. I highly recommend you try Island Jerk, even though it might look run down on the outside, I can truthfully say, John and Ouida, make the main thing the main thing! So good you'll wanna smack your pastor!“

“If there were more stars available, they'd get more than 5!! I was there visiting my hometown from Boston and was told of this restaurant. I didn't know that I was coming to a jewel of a place. Everything from the food and customer service exceeded my expectations. Mrs. Shirley was the nicest owner you'd ever meet.The food, out of the world!! If you don't try the turkey wings, you're missing out on a beautiful treat!! So good, they make me want to move back home!! There was nothing I had that wasn't good. I had the Mac and cheese and yams along with the exceptional cabbage. GREAT is all I can say, the whole experience. After I finished my meal, I called the restaurant to tell them just how satisfied I was of everything.Thank you again, Delicious Dishes!!“
“I ordered from this place on Sunday. One thing I can say is the customer service is very nice, don't let that fool you. The food is horrible, I ordered Curry chicken it was not seasoned at all no curry taste, it was basically boiled chicken, the jasmine rice was dry, and the cabbage was a vegetable medley raw.I also ordered brown stew chicken, yams, and mac and cheese. The stew chicken stew chicken was dry no flavor, yams were good, and mac and cheese was a small corner piece nasty. Only good thing was chicken fingers and fries. I would never eat there again. “Everything was absolutely delicious. Except the fries. They were horrible lol, but you didn't even notice from how good everything else was. My husband got the Oxtail (Medium) and it was literally perfect and was served over rice and beans. I got the J*** Chicken (Medium) and it was excellent, but just to give fair warning, it definitely is a bit spicy. It was too spicy for my husband, but he doesn't usually eat spicy anyway. I got the side of mac. It was incredible! Cheesy and flavorful, without conflicting with the flavors of the chicken. They also threw in a little container of a sauce of some sort. It was probably the best thing they sent lol. Definitely will be ordering here again!“
“BEST food ever!!! So happy this place is right in my own town, minutes away. We have been back twice in less than a week. There are excellent vegan options; the spinach and veggie patties are TO DIE FOR! Could eat these every day. Everything here is made by the owner/chef Deb (and her mom) They are so kind, personable and lovely. Order ahead if you want quick/take out...or come in for dining when you have more time to just chill, visit and enjoy!“
