Kawana and Natorie provided outstanding service and was very welcoming when entering the restaurant. Kawana made sure that my food was fresh. I would come here again.
The food was so delicious and this restaurant is black owned. I would recommend this to anyone looking for Soul Food in the area and I would come back here the next time I’m in Jersey for sure.

Cornbread Newark is a great place to eat with amazing food. The staff is lovely and helpful, creating a beautiful experience. They offer vegetarian options like collard greens and serve generous portions. The food is very tasty and well seasoned, with highlights like the Fried Catfish, Baked Chicken, ribs, and their namesake cornbread. Don’t miss the mac & cheese, yams, or peach cobbler—all homemade and delicious. The protein portions are great, though some wish the sides were larger and hotter. The women working here, like NaNa and Kewanna, are extremely funny, welcoming, and make you feel at home. The ambiance is clean and peaceful, and it’s a short walk from the Prudential Center. The prices may be a bit expensive, but the quality and quantity of the food make it worth it. A must-visit spot for a satisfying meal. Just a note: every plate comes with cornbread, but order extra—you’ll thank them later.
