“The Modern Cakery is incredible! I found them on instagram looking for a bakery that makes detailed children’s birthday cakes. I placed an order for a Rapunzel themed cake, and they were very helpful with any questions I had as well as flexible with changes I made to the design. My daughter was in love with the cake, the quality was amazing, and everyone at her party was asking where we got her cake from. Not only that, the cake tasted amazing and was probably the best tasting cake I’ve ever eaten besides my own wedding cake. I would highly recommend them for any event that needs a cake, and plan to use them again for future birthdays!”

“I love this place. I normally go there in the morning, so this review is pretty much based on the bagels or bagel sandwiches I get. But they are great. The bagels are made there. They're awesome. They make the bacon, egg, and cheese sandwiches even more delicious. Their coffee is good and the staff is friendly. I can only imagine their Latino food is just as good. Street parking is limited but that's the only thing that is even remotely negative and that's not their fault! I would say if you try them, you won't be disappointed.”

“We have had dinner several times - the food and service are excellent. It is a lovely restaurant but it is very noisy. That is out only complaint. I wear hearing aides and the noise level makes it difficult to her the conversation at the table.”

“Stay Away!!! Just kidding, this spot is popular and rightfully so for all the right reasons. The atmosphere is bot chill and warm for lounge lizards wanting a great watering hole. The drinks are fantastic, The Monk Fashioned being my favorite, reminds me of a magical Sazerac. The food here is delicious too, been a couple times and look forward to returning again soon. Love the Sweet And Salty Grilly with Gruyère, Prosciutto, Fig Spread, Arugula on Sour Dough. The Fonduey Mac & Cheese is also a cooze fest of cheesy goodness, also the Whipped Feta with the Everything Bagel Pretzel. Always love to get the Crab Cakes. Though I’m eyeing the Skewered Thighs for next time they look like a divine dine. Fortunately we’ve gotten in without a reservation, though I’m sure it’s good to have one.”

“i’m here to tell you the hype is true. The burritos are so freaking good. The sauce is immaculate. I always ask for extra sauce. My favorite is the sausage burrito and the bacon. I usually get both and eat half-and-half and split it with my partner. lol

“Local favorite. Can’t go wrong. It’s not cheap, but worth it. I’d pass on the scallion pancakes. They barely have scallion or scallion flavor. But my main gripe is please hire competent behind the POS. Why am I asking 2 and 3 times if an order was received? Why are you answering “hello?” Instead of Handpulled Noodle? And why are you saying the restaurant is on 148th? Lol it’s in on Broadway between 148th and 149th. Just a very bizarre experience on a Friday night.”

“I never eat chicken breast because they are too dry, but I can say this is the best fried chicken I’ve eaten from a restaurant. Juicy not greasy I wasn’t tired after I ate the meal absolutely delicious!”

“It was a surprise to find this little restaurant in Harlem. There were no tables, and we took the last two seats at the bar. While we waited, I surprisingly felt at home. The aroma of the food, the care with which Karina prepared each of the dishes, and the kindness and joy they served us. By the time our table was ready, we didn't want to take it anymore; we ate much more than we planned to order because we didn't want to miss out on their delicious food. I have dietary restrictions, and I was surprised to see that everything from the exquisite tortillas to the delicious tres leches dessert was prepared right there, gluten-free and preservative-free. I hope to return soon.”

But take my word for it as soon you take the first bite and your taste buds take a swim in all those authentic Puerto Rican flavors / seasonings you will fully understand and long line. This is food porn at it’s best, both in flavor and presentation. If you’ve been searching for that old school grandma’s kitchen recipe experience you’ve come to the right place. Unfortunately unless you were raised in puerto rico or as a kid spent a lot of time at grandma’s house, a plate of arroz con gandules, pernil, camarones, ensalada de pulpo, accompanied by a healthy serving of perfectly cooked pork shoulder, not to mention the crunchy skin and the burnt ends accompanied by some home made garlic sauce you get as a bonus may not make sense to you, but is a mixture of deliciousness that you will not forget.”

“The food is really good. My go-to is the quinoa salad with grilled chicken or the grilled cheese with tomato soup. The salad is very refreshing and delicious and the grilled cheese with tomato soup just warms the soul. Their drinks will do what it needs to do lol. The staff are super friendly, the atmosphere is chill, relaxing and they have an outside area too. 10/10”
