I reviewed this place before taking my family there for a late lunch. Overall rating was relatively low. But if you look at all the 1 star ratings, the comments are mostly all about the service. We took a chance since we love Sulungtang. We were not disappointed. Authentic. Delicious. Good crisp kim chi and kakdugi. All the elements were there. Food was great. Service for us was also good. Granted we were there at 3 pm. Guess I would recommend going when it's not busy.
My husband and I really like the 도가니무침 (spicy beef knee cartilage) here. It's sweet and sour with gelatinous texture that keeps you reaching for more. Yesterday we also ordered the seafood pancake and it was perfectly chewy with a crispy crust. The army base stew was good too. This place is BYOB which is great! Not overly-flavored Ginseng Chicken Soup is my favorite. It is a very quiet restaurant and Staffs are friendly. I am very sensitive to MSG or other seasonings, and Bonga is one of the restaurants who do not use (too much).
