“It's a diner, so that's how I'm rating the food and atmosphere. Both are great, but obviously this isn't about being fancy.I expect diner food to be somewhere between passable and good; putting it was really good and there was plenty to eat. I hate till I was stuffed and my friend took food home.I'm vegetarian/vegan , so I had the tofu scramble. This was definitely solid. There was lots of tofu so I got my protein for the morning and a good variety of vegetables; I appreciate it tofu scramble that has some greens in it like spinach. I had Fried potatoes so that I would be able to try the house-made ketchup and it was excellent. I wish more restaurants would do this. It makes eating at different places so much more interesting. If you're down for diner eating, this is definitely one of the best if not the best place to go in Philly.Vegetarian options: Sure, it's a diner. If you want eggs or tofu, you're in luck. If your vegan, it's much more restricted.“
“Large and varied menu. Good soups, salads, and sandwiches as well as breakfast items and Italian entrees. Good value and large portions. Pete himself is often present and cooking.Kid-friendliness: Kids menu available.Wheelchair accessibility: Accessible via a ramp off of Fairmount.“
“Old school diner in the best sense of the word. The food is inexpensive and hearty. The coffee is hot and abundant. The waitresses call you "hun" and seem like they've been there forever. The decore is classic diner. Loved this place in college for a good omlette after a night of drinking. And, after my recent visit, I am overjoyed to see it hasn't changed much in those 30 years.“

Whether you're craving a hearty meal, a friendly atmosphere, or simply a sense of belonging, this diner exceeds expectations on all fronts.Cheers to Piston diner for an unforgettable dining experience - we'll definitely be back! Side note: there was one employee that was working the front who was an older gentleman that was pretty crabby with the employees for the duration of the time I was there and seemed to effect work place morale negatively.“

“Colonial is my go to . I have a favorite waitress , her name is Marissa . She always jokes and says “the only thing that makes us a diner is the word diner in our name “. And she is right . Marissa always has awesome recommendations . She recommended the salmon Mediterranean and that is now one of my favorites also . The blue cheese dressing Marissa said is made in house and that is awesome too ! I’m not even vegan but the vegan options here are so good that I eat them too !“
“I'm a Philly native, and every time I come home, I stop by the Penrose Diner for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. The food is amazing, the service is prompt, and the atmosphere is family friendly. They have the best coffee any time of day.“
“This diner has always been my go-to diner in Upper Darby. The food portions are big and delicious for the money. Let's not let these gems of our community fade. All the new places out there cut corners and don't have the hand-me-down recipes. Keep it up LD. Would love some Halal options.“
“Traveling thru and stopped for breakfast based on other positive Google Reviews. Food was fantastic, Service was amazing and welcoming, and the other patrons made us feel like old friends. Jackie was outstanding in making sure we were happy and had everything we needed from start to finish. I had the French Toast and my wife had a Roast Beef Sandwich on a super fresh roll. We will make a point to stop again!“
