“This coffee shop and bakery is absolutely fabulous. I stopped in this morning and had an iced caramel coffee with a little vanilla and oat milk and it was so good. I’ve been a few times and the staff is always kind, welcoming, and professional. The empanadas are delicious and I love the light, crispy breading, it reminds me of a Chinese fried pastry. The space is quaint and peaceful, and you can really feel the care behind this business. I truly hope to see them grow and open more locations in the future.“

“My sister and I went to get Italian ices. They were soooo good, especially the coconut flavor. They have many desserts to choose from. I also purchased a biscotti cheese cake that was very good. We met the owner Zaki. He and his staff were very friendly and welcoming. He also mentioned that you can call ahead to place your order to be ready for pick up when you arrive. Every time I go in he makes the whole experience better just by being there. His smile is contagious and he has this way of making everyone laugh while still being professional. Honestly, he’s the kind of person who could brighten anyone’s day.
He’s not just funny for a joke or two either, he has this natural sense of humor that makes every interaction enjoyable. And on top of that he’s so handsome it’s hard not to notice. Even when the store is busy he stays calm, organized, and continues being both funny and friendly. He remembers regular customers and always takes the time to make people feel welcome, which shows how much he truly cares.
Joe’s handsomeness is one thing, but combined with his kindness and humor it makes him unforgettable. He knows the menu really well and gives great suggestions, all while cracking little jokes that make the experience feel personal. He has this ability to make people smile no matter what kind of day they’re having. I’ve never met anyone else at a store who is so funny, charming, and handsome all at the same time.
Even his coworkers seem to really like having him around because he helps out without being asked and keeps the mood light with his humor. And yet he never loses focus on giving customers the best experience. His handsomeness, his funny personality, and his kindness make him someone who stands out in a huge way.
Honestly, Joe makes coming to Carvel something I look forward to. I tell friends all the time that they need to meet him because he’s not just good at his job, he’s genuinely funny and handsome and makes the whole store a better place. I’ve never met anyone like him before. His combination of humor, kindness, and handsomeness is rare and makes every visit memorable.
I can’t recommend Joe enough. If you go to this Carvel and get served by him you will immediately understand why I’m writing this. “I recently visited this place, and as usual, it was quite busy. They offer a much wider variety of ice cream flavors compared to other places. We tried the Toasted Coconut and Almond Coconut flavors, and both were rich, creamy, and full of flavor. The staff was very kind, helpful, and provided excellent customer service. These desserts are common across Taiwan and much of East Asia, where sweet soups serve the role that cakes or pastries might in the West: a warm or cooling treat at the end of a meal or as an afternoon snack.

The brand itself originated in Taichung, Taiwan, where it began as a small family shop inspired by traditional dessert recipes passed down through generations. Today Meet Fresh has expanded internationally, but the menu remains rooted in those classic Taiwanese dessert traditions.

The menu includes hot and cold dessert soups, along with bubble teas, specialty drinks, ice creams, shaved ice desserts, and egg waffles—served plain or with a variety of fillings.

I stopped in for a bowl of their Combo A hot red bean soup, topped with taro balls, fragrant red beans, crunchy peanuts, and soft, chewy boba. I also ordered a hot almond milk.

For those unfamiliar with it, red bean soup is one of the classic desserts of Chinese and Taiwanese cuisine. Made from adzuki beans simmered until soft, it has a naturally earthy sweetness that is comforting without being overly sugary. It’s often served hot in cooler weather and chilled in summer.

The bowl here was generous and piping hot, exactly what you want from a dessert soup. The sweetness was well balanced—sweet, but not cloying—and the toppings added layers of texture that kept each spoonful interesting.

The taro balls are another Taiwanese specialty: chewy dumplings made from taro and sweet potato starch with a texture somewhere between mochi and gnocchi. These were nicely elastic and pleasantly chewy. The peanuts added crunch, while the boba pearls brought their familiar soft chew, making the bowl a fun mix of textures.

The hot almond milk was fragrant and soothing. In Chinese dessert culture this type of almond drink is often made from apricot kernels (sometimes called “Chinese almonds”), which gives it a slightly different aroma than Western almond milk. This one was very tasty, though it leaned a bit sweeter than I personally prefer.

Service was pleasant and efficient, and the shop has ample seating, making it easy to sit and enjoy your dessert rather than rushing out the door.

For anyone curious about Taiwanese desserts—or simply looking for something beyond cakes and pastries—Meet Fresh offers a comforting introduction to a whole world of sweet soups, chewy toppings, and traditional dessert flavors. I would happily return to explore more of the menu.“
