Home fries were a little dry, there was a pound of butter on my toast , which i requested un-buttered.
Service was ok considering a not so busy morning time.
But, my breakfast date was lovely. I will bring her somewhere nicer next time“

“Can’t count how many times we’ve been here but here is my review of Silk City.

The food was excellent. Can’t go wrong in any order. Loved the ambiance. The drinks were good. It’s good to have a reservation as this place gets packed every time, but they could accommodate you to the diner section. Service at the diner section usually takes longer. Lots of parking around the area, but it’s better if you take Lyft or Uber. Staff were amazing and really friendly.

We will always go back to this place.“

“My daughter and I have been wanting to try the soup flight for a while. Today was the day! We both had the daily lunch soup flight special. We both ordered corned beef sandwiches which were delicious and came with fries, coleslaw, pickle, and the soup flight. For the soup choices I got the cream of potato, split pea, and vegetable beef. My daughter got cream of potato, tomato orzo, and vegetable beef. They were all so good! We can’t wait to go again! Looking forward to coming for dinner and trying the salad bar which also looked delicious. Very friendly service as well!“

“Sakura was a staple takeout spot for us while we lived at Hyde Park Apartments. The food is always fresh, nicely presented, and above all delicious. Service was quick and friendly. They even began to remember my name and to put spicy mayo on the side for all of my orders. Top notch sushi place for anyone remotely close by.“

“The food is good, but you probably shouldn't get it delivered. Our last two orders have been wrong. Today's order of a burger, fries and coleslaw was delivered with a giant container of onion rings instead of the burger. Like how does it go out the door without the entree? “I was worried that Oceanos was gone, like so many great places, another victim of the pandemic. A place called Avenue Diner took its place, and hey, guys… it’s the same family and servers and great food!! Yay! Had dinner with my daughter there this past Friday and was so pleased! The service is every bit as terrific, homey, and individualized as I remember. The food is still amazing and the prices reasonable. My daughter had roast turkey with plenty of stuffing and gravy, which she loved. The salads were very fresh and the dressings were perfect. The rolls and herb butter were warm and fresh. I had salmon which was broiled perfectly, moist with an herb butter sauce. The vegetable was done exactly the way I requested. We took an omelet home for someone who missed the outing and he pronounced it the best restaurant omelet he ever had. Finally, I took a quart on vegetable soup home and ate it the next day. I swear it was my grandmother’s old recipe - large cuts of multiple vegetables including zucchini and carrots and cabbage and more in a perfect veggie broth. Wish I had more right now! So, give Avenue Diner a try… it is worth your time and money. It made me smile!“

“I’ve been to Monarch a bunch of times and finally decided they’re TOO good to not leave a review. We brought my Grandpa today and it was a great experience. It’s impressive how quickly we were seated and how quickly the food comes out. They must be hustling in that kitchen and the wait staff has always been so pleasant & polite. “Huge fan, I’ve never had a bad sandwich at Johnny Hot’s, until today 8/30/24. I was supposed to have just pork roll on a steak roll with spicy mustard, no egg and no cheese. The pork roll is usually cut very thin with a nice braise on it. It had egg & cheese on it. The egg & cheese were warm the meat was cool, no grill color to it. By the time I took the egg & cheese off there was hardly any pork roll, very disappointed. It was “no change” Friday, so I gave my apprentice 15 dollars for a sandwich I couldn’t even eat.“

“Dad and daughter were working the place together with dad cooking and daughter taking the orders. So friendly and sweet. They have a kiosk or you can place the order with the daughter. The food was good, I had a waffle with eggs and got a breakfast sandwich for my partner on a long roll.“

“Let me start by saying don't go in here expecting a traditional restaurant experience. This is an old school, fast paced, self-serve/take-out style diner that is CASH ONLY (has an ATM). That, however, is EXACTLY what I want for good breakfast on a busy weekday morning. And good doesn't begin to describe it. Staff are a well oiled machine used to a very busy fast-paced environment who are there to get your order, give you your food, and let you move on with your day.
Now the food. Let me say, it isn't hard to make good home fries, but these were AMAZING. Onions and peppers in perfectly made home fries with perfect consistency and a taste to die for. No need to season them as they were perfectly seasoned. In my almost 41 years of life, these are the best damned home fries I've ever had! My eggs were made perfectly over medium with wonderful runny yolk like I love them and were wonderfully flavorful. Sausage patties were delicious as well, partner got pancakes that were fluffy and sweet even before the butter and syrup. Excellent diner, fast service. For anyone that likes this kind of place, it is up there for best ever!“

“Took myself and my better half here for the first time today as I've lived in this part of the neighborhood for over a year and a half now and have passed by several times and wanted to give it a try. I order eggs sunny side, home fries w/ onion and scrapple, my fiancé ordered french toast with bacon and side of scrambled eggs. Everything was delicious and fresh, kept topping off the coffee and the servers and people behind the counter were all friendly, made us feel like one of their own. Noticed by the customer traffic coming in and out that there were alot of locals. Definitely a place we will make ourselves regulars. I see why Kitty's has been here for 70 years.“

“We've been coming here for about a decade, and always liked it, through name change and management change. The food is good, the portions are large. If, however, you have a larger party (Wife and kids and I are a party of 7) don't go on Sunday!! They prioritize the smaller parties and make the larger ones wait a ridiculous amount of time. it took 1 hour and 20 minutes before we actually got our breakfast. in the meantime, 3 tables near us had come in , gotten their food and finished. First come, first served SHOULD be the rule, but here, it apparently isn't.“

“I would have given five stars , but the issue is not with the food or the service or the Atmosphere. The issue is with their credit card and debit card system whatever you want to call it. This is the first time since I've opened this bank account that THIS HAS HAPPENED!!!IT took 2 weeks to first take the original charge and then after the fact took another week to take the tip. This bank account has been so fantastic that the amounts that get taken off usually get taken off immediately right away. But not with this diner and this is not the first time i've experienced this.“

“Went to brunch for fathers day the food was pretty good. They also didn't have small cups with a lid and straw for children. Unfortunately I won't be returning. As a single father I was forced to change my daughters diaper in the women's bathroom, as there is not one in the men's or a family restroom. I knocked and cracked the door saying "dad coming in to change a diaper!" with no repsone i entered and proceeded to change my daughter. We were pretty much in and out under 5 mins. The longest part was prepping the changing table that was dirty (strap doesn't work either) as I'm finishing up the diaper change a waitress came to the door, standing in front of it holding it open and stood there awkwardly. As I finished dressing her I smiled said "Hi" with no response and a awkward stare. as I gathered my things and was holding her I said can I help you? agian no response just standing there with a sour face. upon walking out of an extremely awkward situation I stated to her that she wouldn't have to stand there if they had a changing table in the men's room. her response was a huff and puff with no response. By the way only two people came in during that time a woman with a child as well she said hi and then walked in used the bathroom, the other didn't say anything went to the bathroom and left. If one of them was to complain shame on them as well. Happy Father's day to all the single Dads out there that have to deal with more then you think!“

“I don't know about the rest of the menu, but they make the best Creamed chipped beef in the city!! Good service with a smile. Yes it's a cash only business, but the neighborhood is much to be desired. Two thumbs up in my opinion! Please tip the staff, they work hard “

“First time visit. Great first impression. Wanted to try something different since we were visiting a new diner and our server. Michele recommended the Tuscan omelette which is made with sausage, red peppers and pesto. Wasn't sure what I thought about pesto on my omelette but the people sitting right behind us were eating one and highly recommended it so I was all in. Definitely glad I gave it a try. The pesto was not overpowering and complimented the entire meal. Would recommend this one to give it a try. Thanks you Michele for the recommendation“
