“This really is a hidden gem in Wallington. Tiny deli with huge flavor. Seriously, they have high end imported prosciutto, sopressatta and more. They make fresh mozzarella every 30 minutes or so, and if you want something hot, their cheesesteak is unreal. It's the kind of place you go out of your way to get to when you're in the mood for an Italian style sub. Also bread is excellent! And staff is super nice“

“I grew up near here and have been coming for years for their takeout specials and deli (an old and strong alliance between the neighboring Italian and Polish immigrant communities). Food is consistently fresh and delicious, and generous portions for the price - I'm so grateful places like this continue to thrive. I especially love the hot kapusta (great for a cold), red cabbage salad, pierogis. They also carry some great imported fruit drinks, like low sugar apple and cherry juice, and a thick banana coconut and chia seed drink. Always very friendly, charming and kind staff. TO ADD: I stopped in again this week and was excited to discover that they make fried apple fritters to order - wonderful! It's the first time I've seen that in the US - one thing I miss about Italy is how common it is to get fresh or made to order hot doughnuts (usually lemon flavored "zeppole", cinnamon and sugared doughnuts or filled croissants), and it's rare in Italian American bakeries. Simple batter fried with sliced apples, sprinkled with powdered sugar, not overly sweet. It just doesn't get better than that.“

It was also surprising that there were more local customers than Korean customers. Korean food seems to have become more popular now. I really liked the smiles of the staff. I think I'll come here at least once every two days while I'm in Manhattan. Of course, if I lived here, I would want to come every day. Since there are only a few tables, it may be difficult for groups to visit, but they allow about 3 people to sit at each table and arrange about 3-5 tables. Basically, it is more like a take-out store. There were 6 of us, 3 at each table, and we ate well. Highly recommended“

“So I am not a local New Yorker but I often come up from DC to visit. My main goal when visiting New York however is discovering and devouring delicious food. That being said, my friends and I spent a long weekend in East Village partying it up till 6am each night! I still can't believe we did that. But in the midst of our late night partying, we would stop to refuel by grabbing a deli sandwich at this small bodega. You walk in and there is a wall full of colorful signs describing multiple types of sandwiches you can order. All looked spectacular but on the first night I ordered "The Biden". All the ingredients spoke to me and man what a sandwich! The flavor explosion was incredible with sun dried tomatoes and avocado on a croissant. I forget what my buddies got but they were raving about them too. The next night I got a meatball sub with grilled onions and once again I was in Heaven. We all were. So please keep this small business going strong and check out their sandwiches. All across their walls they have photos with celebrities so clearly they are popular. Thank you Sunny and Annie! “This unassumingly-named place is popular and for good reason. They make their own soy milk and 豆腐花 (tofu pudding) fresh every day. You can get it in a small or large takeout container. ($2.50 for a small thing of warm soy milk; not sure what the pudding prices are, but that's clearly their best selling item.) They also make other sweets and things like 粽 (Chinese tamales), which is next on my list to try!“

“The food here is spot on. Very good sandwiches. Reasonable prices. The salads get overlooked which are very good, but get your dressing on the side or it will be mushy. Nice atmosphere overall. The neighborhood kids come and all the staff are real nice to them and it has the 3rd spaces feel of old school spots where you could hang. My biggest gripe is that their line system makes no sense. They make you wait to place you order. They could just switch to a ticket system. The old guy gets grumpy when new customers don't understand their silly system and he is kind of a jerk about it. Also it would be nice if they had an online presence but I understand not giving greedy Uber eats 25% of your ticket. I'm not criticizing them there.“

Each item looks bewitching and alluring and before you can even finish saying, "A pound of..." - somehow it's already sliced and bagged and the guy is waiting on the next item you need. (Maybe it's that luscious square of eggplant parm that they've intentionally left "posed" on top of the spatula or the Italian hot dog platter or that mountain of sauteed broccoli rabe that you know it's going to have that perfect 'bite'.) And as soon as you get home you immediately start crafting what's to be a most perfect sandwich with their seeded semolina, fresh ball of mootz (so creamy and delectable), and a few other odds-and-ends you snagged. Krauszer's has a few locations across Newark, but this particular one is my favorite. Why? Because it's never busy and the workers are all very courteous. The main guy with the mustache (forgive me, I forget his name) greatly appreciates every customer, so I will always go out of my way to support businesses like these. I usually get their honey turkey spinach wraps--always fresh and very affordable!
