Based on the reviews, Cocina Familia, also known as Abuelita's, offers excellent New Mexican food on historic Route 66. The staff is friendly, attentive, and quick, easily accommodating large groups. The food is consistently great, with specific meals like the carne adovada breakfast, relleno plate with green, and stuffed sopapillas chicken with Christmas receiving high praise. The green chile stew and three tacos are also recommended. The calabacitas have fantastic flavor, and the chicharrones and creamy natillas are reminiscent of home cooking. The salsa is amazing. The new seating area on the patio provides a beautiful experience, and the new owners have increased the open hours. It is a nice, calm, quiet spot in the South Valley where the food is flavorful and spicy, and the staff is accommodating.
