“I had a work trip to New Mexico over the summer, and my colleagues and I stopped in Socorro for a meeting on our drive back to Albuquerque from Las Cruces. What an interesting pit stop! One of my colleagues used to work in Socorro, so she was happy to be our tour guide for that segment of the trip, sharing personal anecdotes, fun facts, local insights, and other background on Socorro County. After our meeting and brief windshield tour, we ended up at Desert Diamond for lunch, and it did not disappoint. The restaurant is a no-frills mom and pop that specializes in New Mexican cuisine. There was a decent crowd in the restaurant for the lunch rush, and all signs indicated that this place would be solid. Once we were seated, and I had a chance to scan the menu, I quickly landed on the stuffed sopaipillas since I had never had that particular dish before. About ten minutes later, our meals were expertly delivered to our table in perfect unison. The stuffed sopaipilla came out piping hot and extremely well-seasoned. I decided to enjoy the moment and indulge, effortlessly reinstating my membership in the Clean Plate Club!“
“Everything the expanded 5 stars says: the food was fantastic, great atmosphere, friendly and attentive service. A pizza was *just* enough to be full but not bloated for a late lunch, before we got back in the road. Stop by if you're traveling through, you won't regret it.“
“Stop in again and everything was great! A reasonable wait for the food and the bun was fresh. Updated my last review. In the restaurant business quality and consistency is king. If it was consistent five stars.I really liked this place and the food was good, but I'm tired of waiting an hour to get it. 20 minutes for a beer. Every time I stop in!!!!! Sick of it, it ain't worth the wait! Don't care how good it once was. One burger and an order of chili cheese fries, really?! Something has changed, it's not as good as it used to be. The bun was dry and chili blan. I don't know if I will come back The owl crossed the street is probably about the same, without the hour wait. Just like this place the Owl used to be great, then they slowly faded. The only down side to Sparky's is they are only open Thursday - Sunday. After driving a bit after this last visit, I thought I should have just stopped by Blake's and ordered a Lotaburger with double meat green chili and cheese. More consistent and not an hour wait! I'm saying this with the full understanding that it cook to order, but it's not like I'm ordering roasted quail with white truffle sauce and creme brulee.“
“03/12/24 - The place is a nice piece of history with good staff. The food was good but I don’t believe the prices were justified. I had a tasty patty melt for $9.95(just the sandwich) and very tasty onion rings. Ten bucks is a chunk of change for a burger on rye but since it’s just once, what the heck.“
“On a visit to Tech, we ate here. The staff was great, our waitress was very helpful and friendly, especially since one of our party has very specific dietary needs. The y went out of their way to get her what she required and her dinner was perfect. ??For me the servers can either make or break a meal... The Ruben sandwich and the Green Chili Cheeseburger we ordered were REALLY good! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐?Unfortunately ?, I ordered a Ceasar Chicken salad, which I couldn't eat...it was bad... I'm sorry to say. But, that would not preclude us from a revisit. Overall it was ⭐⭐?⭐⭐ experience.Dietary restrictions: The staff was exceptionally accommodating.“
