“The place is about you would expect for a small town, ita sorta a hole in the wall and dingy but there was plenty of seating and the food was good, the woman taking our order was super nice. I ordered the red stuffed sopapilla and it was crunchy and filled with plenty of meat, I was actually pretty happy with the way they make their stuffed sopapilla and could definitely see my self eating their on the weekends for breakfast or lunch with their menu. It was not at all on the expensive side and worth the stop. I definitely recommend you give it a try if you're in the area and wanting New Mexican food.“

“I wasn't expecting much when I walked in b/c of the premises, and I almost walked out. I decided to trust the reviews. The food was absolutely delicious; best birria tacos I have ever had at any price. This will be my food stop when traveling from now on.“

“I am a strict vegetarian, and the staff here went above and beyond to make sure that the food meets my needs. They made a special veg dish for me and it was delicious. They were thorough about the prep of the food and I am really thankful for that.“

“Had fish tacos at the Socorro restaurant and they were surprisingly good— mentor flaky fish that wasn’t over battered, and the didn’t skimp on the pico or crema. Will definitely be back“

“Atmosphere is out of this world. Walk into the coolest lounge/bar you can find in the state and enjoy the positively unique, effortlessly nostalgic vibe. Staff is fantastic - no nonsense, and friendly. Walking in, go right for an epic retro diner feel, go left and step in time. If you liked Paul's Monterey, back in the day, you will love El Matador!“

“My favorite place to eat in Socorro because of the consistency and generous portions. I know what to expect when I make an order here unlike other places in town where you never know what to expect depending on the cook. Service is hit and miss. Sometimes your server cares and sometimes they’re so overwhelmed you better stay out of their way. It’s usually good service though for the most part. I have a few favorites on the menu including the el Camino special burger, the smothered burger plate, the #8 double breakfast burrito plate, the #16 huevos rancheros with a beef patty and they have the best chile cheese fries in town.“

“Well for one the chorizo, egg and hash brown breakfast burrito is massive and was really really good. I added the green chili to it and it was phenomenal. By far one of the best breakfast burritos I have had in a really long time. The workers are very very nice and seem to have a lot of regulars that come in for breakfast as everyone is on a first name basis with everyone. Nice little truck stop looks like it can fit a lot of trucks it was dark when I arrived so couldn’t really see and it’s not well lit outside but trucker path does say 70 spots and the parking lot is big enough to set yourself up for a straight line back. If you pass this way definitely stop and grab a burrito you won’t be disappointed. It appears they sell the green and red chili also so I think I’m going pick up some of that green chili. Apparently they said the green is the hottest but I didn’t find it to be really hot had the right amount of heat to it.“
