“Restaurant was clean, atmosphere and staff were very inviting. There was pitchers of water with 4 glassed at each table. Both my partner and I ordered the same sides, butter chicken and saffron rice with pop. It was absolutely amazing.... so much so we ordered 2 extra sides of rice to take home with the remaining butter chicken. Highly recommend! We will be in again to try out some other items.”

“Well worth a trip across the bridge! I rarely go to Dartmouth, but had an appointment this aft. Walking back to my car, I noticed this cute spot, Portland Street Creperie and decided to check it out. So glad I did! I’ll definitely be back. The owner and his staff member of many years greeted me with a warm welcome and good suggestions. It was a bonus to discover Neil shares a love of Kraftwerk! I’m so jealous that he will be seeing them for the third time 🤦‍♀️. Oh, and the crepes - fabulous! Definitely recommended!”

“We had almost given up on finding parking in the area (super busy due to a music festival) but are VERY glad we did not give up.
The Brussel sprouts were some of the best we'd EVER had, and the bernaise and the chili combined for amazing flavours. The burgers (Pig Mac & deluxe) were tasty, juicy and full of flavour, and the fries were fresh cut and delicious.
Great selection of beers, and the service was attentive and friendly.”

Thanks to the entire Canteen family - and I say FAMILY purposefully as you feel the family atmosphere as soon as you arrive - for hosting our team for dinner last week. We booked out the whole restaurant and they did just what we hoped for: Maritime hospitality, wonderful, genuine service and knock-your-socks off food. The team from across Canada went bananas over the Crobster sandwich. The special welcome from the owners was a lovely touch. The guests raved all the way back across the harbour on the ferry about the wonderful meal from start to finish. It’s a lovely space that is not pretentious and puts an emphasis on fantastic food and exemplary service, with a genuine smile. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️”

“Was there for a late lunch. Very spacious, clean and great atmosphere. Our server Emily was very friendly and enthusiastic. Ordered taquitos (excellent flavour and lots of filling. Then I had the chicken fajitas which were huge and very fresh tasting. Emily talked me into trying the Churro bites for dessert. They are stellar all around pleased with my experience. Would recommend”

“⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ !! The Prospect Road location is going to be such a well loved location - so much so that, I don’t think the staff realized how much of the community would flock there. They’re BUSY, and out of ingredients, but the staff there were HUSTLING around, smiling and getting orders out that they could. I expect delays at the beginning. They never expected so much traffic, give them patience folks and expect a mess up in your order possibly or wait until they are fully loaded and in the flow with the area. Otherwise incredible sub (despite picking off a couple things I didn’t ask for), the bread was amazing, still 10/10 would go back, and didn’t even care it was chaotic. Inside though although small, its essentially a novelty convenience store with local goodies. They have a little bakery section with homemade stuff, the moon mist fudge was incredible and a must try! They also had a bunch of “Jones Soda” flavours that I’ve never seen before anywhere around here - even at the big candy stores, (like s’mores and the fallout edition one) which was pretty cool!! They still have ice cream and everything that was at multi scoop - just with a lot more options and delicious fresh options to go. Something for ANYONE at a really reasonable price. “We went there on a rainy Saturday afternoon. Place wasn't very busy, so we didn't wait for a table, and food was served fairly fast!

We ordered Sakedon, Gyoza, one Toro nigiri special, and a Blue Mountain Roll. Everything was delicious. Portions, flavours and texture were great not to mention that their plating was very impressive and authentic. Price for us (2 adults, and one kid) was $72 after taxes. Dunno, what mayority of people except to pay at a Japanese restaurant but to me it was definitely worth it!

Umai's interior deco is very minimal and very pleasing. A few lovely pictures and that's it. Beautiful!

Their washroom was extremely clean (some people might not care about this but to me cleanliness in a washroom says a lot about the place). Anyway, not only was it super clean it was very also nicely decorated. Only thing it needs it's a diaper changer (Mom here).

Atmosphere was also good. It's a very nice spot for couples, for families, friends, and any type of reunions. It's on a plaza so, parking it's easy and it's also wheelchair accessible!

Service was great. Server asked us about any allergies after ordering and was always very attentive.

Don't have that many photos cuz I was paying more attention to my crazy baby, lol. But I can't wait to go back again and hopefully will remember to take more then.

Friendly staff and clean restaurant. Food is good, veggies fresh. My only complaint is when I get bowls here, there’s such a tiny amount of chicken that it’s barely noticeable.. which is a shame because it’s really good. After tax & tip, I spent $19.43 on one bowl.. which is kind of pricy considering there was maybe a little spoon full of chicken.. I still go here on occasion because I like the healthy options, and again- it is really good. Just a bit overpriced when there’s barely any protein.”

Having the chef come out with the waiter to explain what was in each dish / course was also fun. They took extra care because of allergies too! “Sushi is so fresh and delicious. As tea is hand-made by the owner, it tastes savory. Takoyaki is crunchy and soft inside. Shrimp tempura is also crunchy and great. I will come here again.”
